What is that 62mph? So it would be 0 to 62mph in 5.6 seconds? Am I correct?

I just checked. 100kph is a hair over 62mph. Gotta ask, how does that make the manual slow? IDK, maybe you just can't drive one?

Being a manual is the only reason I considered the N. If I just wanted a fast 0-60 automatic there’s waayy more cars I’d be looking at.

Happy for manual drivers to keep their hand on their knob... as they go backwards out of the rear window of a beautiful fast paddle shifter DCT...

Well now I’m definitely excited for the new type of drivers the dct will bring to the N community. No but seriously, automatics are just so boring to me. It doesn’t matter what I’m driving, if it’s an automatic the fun I have is trying to maximize the mpg gauge.

He is very condescending... He must own a Type R....

I would agree, but they sound really excited about the DCT, I'm guessing they can't drive a standard.

People who brag about the performance of modern automatics annoy the **** out of me. It's like telling a diehard carbie loyalist that EFI is better. Deep in their heart they know it's true... but they obviously don't care and you being a dick about it isn't going to change their mind. It's a personal preference, leave it at that.

Also got a huge laugh at trying to claim that a DCT isn't an automatic. This thread is getting to be fun, bring on the trolls!

I mean I guess technically you could say a fully autonomous vehicle is “better” but for me it would be the least fun.

"Better performing" we'll say. You could maybe say that autonomous vehicles will someday be safer than a human controlled vehicle, I don't know about "better" though.

I do like the idea of having pre-programmed laps from professional drivers so you can make yourself hurl when you can't figure out how to drop any more time off your lap.

how do people love literally the same car and still find ways to hate each other 🤦‍♂️ humanity is doomed

I particularly enjoyed the following comment.

Beautiful? Aren't we talking about the same car here!?! What makes my standard ugly to you? I can't stop laughing.

I know one thing though, the manual gearbox will be able to handle more power. Just sayin'....

Unfortunately the opposite is true in the VAG world. The Golf R 6MT has a surprisingly low take rate with enthusiast buyers because if you want to tune it much past 300HP the OEM clutch can't hang.

Fingers crossed that Hyundai built some headroom into both transmissions. I haven't done this kind of research yet to know.

(RIP, 3 posts in a row with no responses, walk of shame for me, back to work)

The phrase "Don't feed the troll" applies here guys, don't go there.

I came from a Golf R manual (a minority in the VAG world) and the crap from DSG owners used to drive me nuts.

Personally couldn't give two hoots about what someone prefers, but now it seems there's at least a choice with new Hyundai's...... unlike most fast VAG cars.

Ok... I'll resist...

Agreed, the clutch/shifter in the mkVII R isn't even very satisfying but I still wouldn't have it any other way.

Everytime I find a tempting deal on a DSG I think of all the local autocross guys complaining that their car won't hold second gear on course. I'm just too much of a control freak to deal with that nonsense.

Has Audi completely killed the manual or only in the US? I'm essentially asking how soon should I attempt to buy a 6MT TTRS? =P (I already know I'll never be able to touch a manual P-car.)
