i30 N Steering Noise / Creaking

There's always one on every forum unfortunately.
some posters do seem to have had a lot more problems than others pretty sure there would be no reason for them to lie, don't know how long you have had yours but my vacuum pump for the brakes has failed at 1500 miles so before you criticise put yourself in their (my) place hopefully nothing will go wrong with yours.

But this is my 22nd new car? Anyway.
But it sounds like you have only come on here to boast do you see how it looks? I have also had a fair few new cars but wouldn't go out of my way to mention it (well apart from now) what relevance has it?

I'm not boasting at all. Some of those 22 ain't been great cars either.
This ain't my first rodeo BTW. I'm. No noob buying new cars, unfortunately cars are mechanical objects that do go wrong, even the German ones.

What I am saying is that if you want to read about anything bad about the car, go to its forum. Did I come here before buying the car? Course I did. Did I know I could possibly have a steering noise? Yes. Did it stop me buying the car? Clearly not..

But out of a 100 n owners. Possibly 15 of them are on a forum. It doesn't prove that all 100 had issues. Noone posts on a forum just to say how good something is. Some do granted but the majority don't.

Anyway I certainly don't want to start anything. Have a great new year to all and I'll keep you updated what my local Says about the noise.

So cars booked in next week for the lubricant application. Also asked to recalibrate the speed and digital speedo.

Made it pop on way back and brought the smile back ha

Only thing I don't get is, if this is quite common why aren't hyundai looking at new racks for cars on the assembly line? What's different to the old and new racks..?

Is this effecting MY20 cars or is it all of them?
It's not common at all. None of the Lh drive owners seem to be affected, I'm certain it's due to the proximity of the exhaust on RH drive cars that causes the issue, I cured mine by using silicon spray on the rubber grommet at the base of the column.

I will be picking up mine (MY20) in a couple of days already prepared to hear this noise. Hopefully not but can't help but be paranoid now.

If you do hear it, follow Jajodu's advice above before taking it into the dealer. It is better to try greasing yourself rather than have them dismantle everything just to re-lubricate.

You need to spray on the rubber grommet at the bottom of the steering column inside the car and also on the other side under the car. If you look through all of this thread you will see pictures I posted regarding this.
It's post #96

Who says hyundai don't do the same thing. Seems a waste of garage time to dismantle a car when it can be reached.
