They almost managed to talk me out of it at 1500km first service but i ended up insisting on it and they did it. Only $81 so i thought that was a cheap and wise investment in longevity and peace of mind. Just do it![]()
Whoa, that's bit stiff! How can they justify that?! I was lucky in that they only charged me for consumables, in which case they've added almost $200 for labour there - what, to stand and watch the oil drain out, screw on a filter and pour in some fresh stuff? Absurd...Wow, Peter warren quoted me $275 for the oil change! Decided to go against it as per logbook :/

About to have my oil and filter changed at 1500km also. What oil was used? I have been told Hyundai (AUS) have a partnership will Caltex currently. Our 2011 Hyundai was a Shell car.I had my 1500km oil and filter changed for $110 last Friday and I thought that was reasonable - No labour charge just consumables.
What brand and grade of oil did they use in your car @GazmaN ? I am interested if the different states / territories use different oil or if Hyundai is playing from the same playbook Australia wide. They almost managed to talk me out of it at 1500km first service but i ended up insisting on it and they did it. Mobil Super 3000 XE 5W30 mate. They used to put Shell in my previous i30 diesel wagon up until last year though. Sounds like they are not fussy when it comes to lube and will bed anyone as you suggest. Interesting...What brand and grade of oil did they use in your car @GazmaN ? Because of higher temps was my assumption as I noticed the same thing in the owners manual. And I thought 0W was a bit on the thin side from the get-go, not that I really know a hell of a lot about lube tech.Do you think they are using a 5W30 oil because of the warmer temps in the territory?
My owners manual say Hyundai recommends Shell Helix motor oils. ACEA C2 or above 0W-30 spec.
Not what my dealer told me. They are saying Caltex oils but are saying the same spec.

Hyundai seem like Elizabeth Taylor and marry up with anyone they feel like at the time.
I am interested in what was used in your car though.
