Yes
Helix out woofers front and rear coaxial woofers
Focal inside woofers front and rear coaxial woofers
Everything works well
I'd say the radio was shielded by the Helix crossovers

I'm pleased you got the the bottom of the problem.👍👍

In my car
Telephone flames ring out of the driver's door speaker
When have you put the amplifier, does the voice from the phone continue to come out through that speaker?
Did you mix the front and rear inputs with the DSP?

The phone continues to work as before. There's no DSP. It's a pioneer amp with a car specific speaker harness to intercept the wiring from the radio, direct it to the amp and then from the amp back out to the speakers.

Hi All,

I'm looking at upgrading the sound system in my FL i30n, as I'm a bit underwhelmed by the sound quality and volume. I don't need a sub, but I'd like to upgrade everything else.

Does anyone have any suggestions for what I should get, and a parts list of stuff I need to buy? I'm based in the UK

Cheers

I strongly suggest you read this thread from the beginning. All the information is in here.

Whoever may be interested, I found it an interesting watch worth my time.
English subtitles seem ok to me (german native speaker, sort of).
I'll think about if I take the upgrade to RC-CAN.

tl,dw:
Direct digital audio input achieved, while maintaining all QOL of the original HU.

Watched those a while ago, SPDIF direct from an external media player to the DSP amplifier, not OEM radio SPDIF -> DSP amp.
However very nice to watch and learn ;)

At least you can control the SPDIF via the original sound controls of the headunit. But that video is a great reminder that I have to get the newest firmware for my pico DSP :D

Yes amazing how many commands go thru CANBUS these days.
Just to make things clean, the OEM radio has no SPDIF, I was confused for a while :p

Looking at upgrading the speakers/amp in my i30N Sedan - here is what is suggested.. thoughts?

Front speakers Focal ES165KX2
Disconnect factory speakers - so only having front speakers, trying to save some cost and never anyone in rear seats anyhow
Amp Alpine X-A90V
Sub in boot JL Audio CP208LG-W3v3
LC7i
Line converter
Both front doors sound deading
Plus various cables etc as needed

I wholeheartedly agree with only using front speakers.
The tweeters should be aligned on your noggin, everything else will cause distortions you don't want to have.

The Hyundai HU is a mess all over the place.
Without a DSP your upgrade will miss much of it's potential.

If you install a Sub you don't need some snake oil improving the bass, there is a gain knob on the amp.
Basically a DSP will improve everything the LC7i wants to do.
Automatic timing and phase adjustments are some kind of magic, I promise.
You are investing a nice sum with the components you wrote, take the jump and get a DSP.

@Jajodu How are you liking your setup? I had an impression that DSP is a must have with our shitty radios.

@Nspain Do you have DSP in your setup? How do you like the sound from it after upgrading the speakers?

@vJaCkHz Did you upgrade you audio system? Any details and thoughts?

I'm now more than happy with my setup, to summarise. An underseat Kenwood subwoofer in the boot, a Pioneer amp behind the dash and all speakers replaced including the tweeters. Sounds really good. If you're interested I can list the exact equipment I used.
