i20N - Reviews, General Discussion & Info

It was a slightly bizarre post but considering that 75% (being generous) of daily posts here recently seem to be bizarre or complete waffle lets not pick the bones out of things too much hey?! 😅

Im not preaching anything here, I’m just trying to understand what he’s saying? He’s talking about things I’ve never heard of? I’d be happy to believe him if starts showing some proof that’s all? How does he know the Hyundai’s engine is what it is so it increases its longevity? Where’s that written? How does he know it’ll outlast the Fords engine? If he’s happy with the engine he’s got then what’s he worried about? It’s just bizarre
Fair comments, I'm more referring to your over arching theme whenever I see you pop up in the i20N threads I view. You raise some valid arguments, and I think the Fiesta is an amazing car as I do the new i20N. All I'm saying is both sides of the argument seem pretty fruitless to me.

I'm personally enjoying my new little N however I have never owned an ST so I can't comment on the comparable. All I can say is I think I've gotten a great value for money car that does everything I need it to do, and the included 5 year warranty sure is a nice reassurance.

I'm not really gonna defend his post, just thought I'd point out where the warranty misunderstandings were most likely coming from.

When I rented i20n for a weekend I had a discussion with owner about '19 Fiesta ST because he had also this car and done 60k miles on it. He runs on track with both of cars and said "The suspension in Fiesta will give you more response but you will be faster in i20n" - that's the main difference on track but for daily driving it doesn't matter. Just choose car which is better looking for you because both of them are quick and fun to ride.

I asked him about Fiesta ST service adventures and he said that this car is surprisingly durable. The only thing that broke on this car 3 times was the gearbox cushion. Besides of that just normal service with frequent oil changes (every 5k miles).

Yep we’ll said, look there both great cars to be fair, what’s even better is they both have different set ups, so it just depends what you prefer that’s all? I’ve never even seen a i20N in the flesh yet, so I don’t know? But I’m guessing it’s like a lighter version of my i30N?

To be honest I think it's a lot less subtle in its looks than the i30! I always wanted an i30N since I saw one back in 2018. Just could never work out a good enough finance deal to afford one. So as soon as I saw the 20 and it was within budget I couldn't stop myself.

It's light, and nippy. Honestly the engine is rather tame around town, feels almost like a diesel low down in the revs (whether that's a good thing to some is up for debate).

I've got a Black one, and it looks class mate. All black besides the boy racer red stripe at the bottom. It's got all the gadgets which is great for the UK like bum warmers and heated steering wheel (best thing I never thought I'd need in my life). I haven't actually driven an i30N, but the interior in the i20N is a lot more 'up to date' I'd say if you're into interiors.

Black looks the best by far on the i20N I reckon, good choice, my i30N was black as well, a bitch to keep clean tho lol, I’ve never been into heated seats or steering wheels, got them in my ST but never use it, for me it’s like sitting in a seat after someone else just used it, weird I know but I find that kinda gross😂

I can't stand heated seats being on for too long, when I lived in Aus I never used them. In the UK in winter they are a godsend though for those freezing mornings.

Yeh fair enough, I certainly know all about those freezing mornings over there, I probably would too..

while ford gives only 2 or 3 years max but you have the option to buy extra warranty time using ford protect.

Is that a GENUINE FORD warranty, i.e, a manufacturer warranty extended by one-two years, or is it a third party warranty, going under the FORD PROTECT name? Underwritten by another company?
Completely different thing if so.

I.e I have a 'Mazda extended warranty on my ND, but it's not a Mazda manufacturer extended warranty, but underwritten by a 3rd party. Granted it's the 'warranty' given my Mazda on approved used cars (which are out of manufacture warranty of course), but nevertheless it's still essentially an insurance company's warranty.
Is FORDS extended the same?

rage wanted some proof to believe me,
ok so here we go
https://www.ford.com.au/content/dam/Ford/website-assets/ap/au/owner/warranty/POL381DE_FOR.pdf https://www.ford.com.au/content/dam/Ford/website-assets/ap/au/owner/warranty/POL381DE_FOR.pdf

Please read carefully. Its not a genuine ford warranty, but a warranty provided by an insurance company called allianz (page 4).

to make the long story sort, ford company, does not give as hyundai 5 years warranty, To deal with this, ford Australia, used the insurance company allianz, and for an extra price offers and extented warranty of 5 years in total. The same thing applies in Greece, Italy, spain and another countries by ford protect, where the basic ford mother company warranty is 2 years, but you can extend it to 5, 6, 7, even eight years by providing a different amount of money to the dealers.
Thats why aussies cannot use the extent warranty outside australia, while someone who owns a hyundai, with 5 years total mother company warranty, can use it everywhere in the globe.

Do a liitle more search or go ask your dealers my friend rage.,

I didn’t pay any extra for an extended warranty though, the 5yrs comes standard here, I’ve got the paperwork for it, it’s a genuine 5yr Ford warranty, just give it a rest would you, who cares!

Just for interest - i20N or ST? Let's just enjoy the rivalry.

Notice, right at the end, the i20N in the background. Hopefully a head-to-head comparison coming soon.

In Aus a bunch of manufacturers upped their factory warranties a few years ago - Holden and Ford started doing 5 to try and compete with Hyundai, Kia, Subaru etc. Holden's is now pretty much worthless because they've folded - their inital press release said they'd honor it for existing customers but the horror stories have started adding up. Ford is not too bad here for customer service, although does vary a bit from dealer to dealer.

Just commenting on looks and I find it really dull looking, they still manage to make it look round and dumpy!

I've watched enough reviews now, didn't bother checking it out - no disrespect meant. I've just got the real deal now! Don't need to hear any more opinions. Thought I did watch the TopGear one.
None taken! I just enjoy the conversation.

Yeh 5yrs is pretty much standard here now for manufactures warranty’s, but that won’t sit well with our Greek friend tho, I can just see him now, middle of night, at his desk, paperwork everywhere, searching for flaws and loopholes in manufactures warranty’s??😂

You payed extra my friend without knowing, because in the final price of the car you bought, ford had inserted the extra money.
Now, take a look at your attitude. I presented you the facts with proofs as you asked, and instead of giving back evidence, the only thing you say is, i didnt pay extra i did not do this or didnt do that, without evidence or facts.
I guess you are a kid, who has no knowledge of what is going on in the background of industries, so its not worth it to try and give you some real knowledge.
So unless you can present something with evidence - proofs -papers( like i did as you asked for proofs) dont post things which are not true, because people who read this forum deserve to know the truth about products and what they pay for.
