Any ideas when the i-20N prices and specs are being released? I'm not sure what Hyundai are playing at but it should have been March, then April, then May. Anybody got any clues?
In Spain I have read that the price for the i20N starts at 29.990 € and the only option is the paint. However, the price with the brand's offer will be around 27.000 €. And it can be reduced to around 25.000 € if you finance with Hyundai and if you trade in a used car (plus whatever they pay for it).
Im moving from Fords (RS/ST3) never owned a Hyundai. Whats the reliability and servicing like? Also is it a standard thing for them to discount if taking out finance ?
Hyundai service is shit. Reliability has been excellent. I'm looking at moving in the opposite direction. What's the reliability and servicing like?
Reliability pretty good. Ive had 2 x Focus RS and an ST3 (written off
) . Never had any major issues. The servicing plans for ST3s are every 2 years but they do tend to rinse you on the price. No too bad though considering the term as most other manufacturers are 12 months. Ive been with the same dealer for over 10 years though so this may vary depending on each dealership.Why is Hyundai servicing shit pal?
This is also my first Hyundai and in two years, I haven't had any problems with servicing or reliability. Regarding financing, in Spain, yes, it is a common practice. Although it is not always the best option, the brands tend to have high interest rates.
Im looking to just get the finance (minimum amount) to qualify for the £1500 and pay it off ASAP. Im hoping the same offers are applicable in the UK
They damaged my car during it's last service, performed a dodgy repair, damaged it yet again and gave it a flogging for good measure. When I complained to Hyundai Australia they were just not interested. Other Australian owners have also had negative experiences and more than a few UK owners have reported below-par service.
That said, there are owners that have had a pleasant experience with Hyundai servicing so take my opinion with a grain of salt - it's just my experience. But the lack of consistency is an issue in itself. Anyway they've lost a future customer here. Thankfully the car itself is awesome and I absolutely adore it so it's not all doom and gloom
.Talking specifically about UK dealers - Ford are better (which doesn't say a lot but still better)
Cheaper servicing, better discounts, more dealerships (obviously). They tend to actually know how to fix their own cars etc etc.

Im getting a bit concerned about the servicing capabilities particularly with it being a new model and engine? Whats the warranty situation like, do you have to jump through hoops to get things covered?
Very dealer dependant I'm afraid. Quite a few have had to escalate issues to Hyundai UK to get anything done. General dealership standpoint is "There's nothing wrong with it" (i.e "We don't know, so off you go").
It's annoying that this entire dealership-thing has to be an issue picking cars. Where I live i have no trust in Ford and their 2 year warranty but elsewhere they are obviously preferable to hyundai. It all comes to individual dealers and national differences.
July 2018 build i30N hatch and she's awesome. My fourth Hyundai, but will also be my last. Plan was for wife to upgrade her Accent to an i20N later this year but, ironically, Hyundai themselves have seen that idea go out the window.
Only one dealership in Darwin, they are beyond incompetent, damaged my car twice (messed up with my wife's as well), I made a formal complaint and Hyundai Customer Care did nothing after I contacted them multiple times by phone and email. I like Hyundai branded motor vehicles. I don't like Hyundai branded people.
Yes, it adds complication to what can be a difficult decision anyway. When the i30n first came out I popped into my local Hyundai dealer to enquire about a test drive and they hadn't even heard of it and I had to explain to them what it was.
I'm currently driving a Fiesta ST-Line and am thinking of possibly going for the ST next time or having a look at the i20n which still shows no sign of appearing. I find myself going back to Ford for one or other of our cars after spells with other brands because the dealer experience is so negative, whereas my local Ford place (a family owned independent, not part of a big group) have been very good during the time I've been going there (15 years now).
But things can change quickly - I had Audis for about 10 years and the local dealer (then independent) was excellent, now they have been swallowed up by a big group and last time I was in there I was made to feel as welcome as Covid-19!
I called several dealerships near Paris, they all told that they should receive the i20 N in three months.
