Who's going to drive their N to the bitter end?

Hi everyone,

I’d be interested to know which of you plan to drive your combustion-engine N (any model—excluding the two electric N's) until the bitter end?

By that I mean until it sustains very expensive damage (e.g., a blown engine) or an accident renders the car a total economic loss.

Feel free to share why—whether it’s a “yes” or a “no.”

I'm not quite sure it will be "bitter end" but I have no plans to change it for the foreseeable future.

For me it's the perfect balance of usability and fun (i30N) - ran an s550 mustang v8 for 7 years as my daily as my previous car - and it's a lot cheaper to run & more practical.
Don't want any more power than the roughly 300 on the road where I live & it's clean air zone complaint (as was the mustang which was hilarious) & I'm not a fan of auto's - even flappy paddles, good as they now are in most cases - and don't "get" SUV's; there's very little on the market that appeals to me anymore.
(BEV's as it stands right now imo is not the solution and every-one is sleepwalking into future issues + the insane cost of them to buy)

I’ve already put far too much money into the car to just give it away now and I just find it far too much fun to drive it!

Yes. for me its more than just a normal car to get me from A to B. For me its a hobby - through my car I've had the please to get to know many nice people, some of them I now call friends.
Since I now have another car as a daily for quite some time already, I am more focused on building stuff for my car and experiencing it on track than on the road. So maybe I even ignore TÜV, as soon as I have the ability to trailer it.

Our '68 RoadRunner (college graduation purchase) was 18 when sold. The '98 Civic was 21 when we gave it away. Our '12 Civic Si is 14 and aging well. Our '24 EN is going on 2 and, at 80, I plan on it being my last vehicle

Yep, I’m planning on keeping my car long term - which is just as well as I’ve likely ruined the resale price with all the mods.

Just come back from my hols with my 2019 i30n not moving off my driveway for 3 weeks. Took it for a drive this morning, for no set purpose I just missed driving it, and it started first turn. 35 miles later on some gloriously empty Welsh A and B roads I came back with a huge smile on my face. Am I ever going to sell it? What do you think

Well apparently me, because I wasn't able to sell it so far, due to the car getting bodywork damage while being parked and now no longer being accident-free which killed its value completely even if I have the photos to show it was nothing structural and easily repaired. So instead of selling it, the wife will be driving it for another 5 years, since she's the main enjoyer of the car anyway.
