Hey guys, does anyone else get a whining noise when turning tightly to the left?

My car has developed a sort of whining sound, but only when turning left.

PS: The car has 73,000 km and the transmission has already been replaced.

No I don't know that problem, but I have not tjet much kilometers on the clock.
Sorry

Why the gearbox has been changed ?

I forgot to mention this at the beginning the gearbox wasn’t replaced, only the transmission fluid was changed. The noise started some time after that service, and it only happens when turning fully to the left.

I assume you’ve checked the level of the power steering reservoir?

hello.

I had the same problem with Motul LV 70w oil. After we used Ravenol MTF 70w and the noise not changed.

Finally we used OEM oil. Not noise again!!

Yea the same has been happening to me, when turning left there is like this whining/clunk sound, I have taken it into the dealer and they said it was a motor mount, they changed it but the noise is still there. If you found a solution please tell me.

I20n has an electric steering I suppose
Good point 😆 - won’t be that then!

Thinking about it, of course you are right or you wouldn’t be able to switch the weighting of the steering so easily. I just thought the whine sounded like I remember the pump/motor of hydraulic steering sounding - I’ve no real experience of purely electric.

One thing I have noticed from reading numerous Facebook posts is that the lower engine mount (often called the torque mount) is woefully under specified and I’ve come across a number of posts where this mount has entirely been chewed to nothing by the engine twisting. This problem doesn’t seem immediately related but you never know.

I should add that this hasn’t happened to me because I changed this mount to poly bushes not long after I bought my car.

It's normal to recon slight gearbox working noise, with a harder lower engine bush, if you add harder gearbox & engine top mount as well.
