What did you do to your N today ?

Amounts to 248 whp with the normal 20% drivetrain loss. :)
Yeah but I asked about this my dyno-man and he told me to not pay an attention at this value because he can even do it better. He told me that there are few values about this (tires, pressure in the tires and pressure of the car to the dyno) - he can tighten the wheels to the dyno wheels and there can be no difference betwen scores - on wheels and even engine.
For exampe - previous two tests - one of them - 105hp lost on wheels (he told me that wheels slip) other 69hp lost.

Considering they're attempting to show the best performance gains for your car during the session, why wouldn't they have already done so in the beginning? :)

Everytime you take the car in for e dyno measurement, you're looking for usable whp gains across the rpm range for the modifications that have been installed.

The 20% loss calculation is not just at the wheels. It takes in consideration the clutch slippage, transmission, traction, drive ratios and other moving parts. The best any tuner is able to achieve is around 15% loss and this is when all conditions are ideal.

The whole dynamometer service is, wrapped around producing the best possible performance measurement to begin with. Telling you, " not to be concerned with wheel horsepower " is skirting the entire purpose for dynoing the car. Wheel horsepower is, what is usable and being put down to the road. :)

So you are trying to tell me that hyundai i30n 275hp is 200whp (my first dyno long time ago) and hyundai is lying to us ?
Lets talk about engine power not whp. Engine power is engine power - it is not my fault that my car will jump and loose traction. Look at Tarmo 380hp - he lost almost 100hp so it is 280hp - nope.
What about other dyno test - on road test - still lost grip and whp ?
I think this dyno is one of the best on the market - next time I can told him to push the wheels as far as possible to the ground - but why - engine power is for me most important.
PS. anyone hear when buying the car about whp ? Everybody told - this car has xxx HP not it has xxx on the wheels......
So.... I don't care about wheel slip or wheel horsepower.

Don't know what your first dyno was in OEM trim, nor your altitude or ambient conditions at the time.

I personally didn't buy the VN because it was rated @ 275 BHP. I already knew it was around 248-250 whp and wasn't expecting anything more.

I didn't say it was your fault and didn't even hint to it. That's the responsibility of the dyno operator and shop to set up correctly and choose the correct ambient conditions to dyno the car.

As far as @TarmoT is concerned he's @ around 304 very usable whp with TQ below 500 nm. His car is almost ideal for what he's done. However, he's setup the car to use all the horsepower and he's fairly confident with it also. :)

Engine hp, isn't going to get you the best performance but whp will. It's what counts in the performance game. If you can't put the horsepower to the ground, no amount of BHP/TQ or will help make the car quicker or faster.

There's some direct proof on this forum as well; look at RPM8300's VN build (410 whp) and it's disappointing performance. There is another nearly stock VN, that has out performed him in both the quarter mile and 0-60 on this forum as well. :). RPM8300's performance is based upon on his total horsepower output while still depending upon and OEM suspension, engine mountings, aerodynamics, etc.

It's just a prime example of how you can pour money into any engine and clutch and not make the car any faster.;)
So.... I don't care about wheel slip or wheel horsepower.
You ought to be, it's what makes the car really perform all round, straight line and into/out of corners as well. This is why the suspension and drivetrain, are just as important as how much bhp the engine puts out. If it's not balanced and usable, the car is neither fast and the driver is neither confident in the car. :)

If you were here in the US and mentioned this, the first question would be whp or not. :)

I appreciate your candor and desire. It's simply a perspective and understanding. All dynamometers read both and can be set up for both. It's simply what you're more interested in that will tell the tale. :)

Bottomline horsepower and performance both costs $$ cha ching. The more performance you desire the more money it will cost.

If you're happy, I'm all for it you can be assured.😀

@Mr. N do you have any pictures of the front mounting points of the intake system (where it mounts to the front bumper plastic)? Am currently looking whether its possible to modify the mounting bracket to make it fit the i30N...

Here are the pictures of the 3 mounting points. Two of them are visible while the 3rd is located within the intake box and it is hidden when observing it from the outside.

I'm most interested about the part I marked in the pic. That's what needs to be modified when I want to fit this to the i30N. Do you have pics of how it's mounted there by any chance?

It is mounted with two small clips. Heres a close up.

sorry for my constant questions :D
would you mind sending over some measurements, as seen here, the afe intake for the veloster n needs to be cut as the intake duct does not line up. Just wanna know it exactly, so I know what to expect, Thanks :)
No worries. Glad to help other N owners from around the world! 👍🏼Does this work?
