Gearbox Transmission fluid?

I was in the same boat. What I did is use an extremely sharp razor and cut the neck. I cut it just enough to fit the pump in. It worked out just fine but be careful cutting and not to get plastic particles in the fluid. I put the point of the razor in first then very slowly guided the razor around the rest of it. Hope this helps.

Best regards,

-Mike

If I ever go to a thicker fluid it's gonna be Amsoil.

I think this is a little better. And you do NOT need a pump. Just squeeze the bag.

Hyundai state fluid change for Transfer box, Rear Axle, Manual or Automatic Transmission and engine coolant on 60k miles or 6 years. Just when car is a year outside Hyundai Warranty...….LMAO

I thought most gearboxes were sealed for life? Just depends what "life" means I guess.
Do you just swap the original fluid once at 10k GHOST or every 10k?????

I only changed gearbox oils when fitting new gearbox or after buying a used car with little or no service history.

Yeah I had the OEM oil out by 10k. I'll probably do another change at 30k too just to do a solid change. Would have been good to run some cheap 70w around the block and drain before I put the good redline in

The initial drain you want to do sooner rather than later and I'd probably do another after every 25 to 30k there after. Mine still shifts like butter. Love the RedLine stuff..... Next change maybe I will try Amsoil.

Best regards,

-Mike

I was told by hyundai that we must have spirax s6 ghme 70w mtf (shell) as is stated in manual. It seems it can be bought only directly from hyundai and they ask 56e per liter ( we need 2 )

Hi
Found this

I'd use what Hyundai say use! Where I work we have oil analysis equipment and believe Me if it comes down to a warranty claim and You've used something different they will know! ;)

Hi
I thought this but found out they don't use Shell oil on engine oil change. Garages just use similar spec oil as they buy in bulk. Could be any major manufacturer saving them money over the Shell oil cost.

Yes, but RedLine MT-LV is a 70wt and even states it will NOT void mfg warranty's. It is a GL-4 fluid and that's what Hyundai wants you to use. It's much better than the factory fluid. Much easier 6th gear engagement too. They should have called it "RedLine Butter Shifts".... lol....

Br,

Welsh,

DON'T use that it's a GL-5 fluid and it will wreek havoc on the yellow metals in the transmission. Please, for the love of God do NOT use it... It absolutely HAS to be a GL-4 fluid even if it's higher viscosity. GL-4 ONLY. :)

Best regards,

-Mike

Reiterating what Ghost said. GL-5 is only for parts of the transmission without synchronizers (ie transfer cases, rear differentials, etc). The transaxle must GL-4 only.

That's the wrong stuff, that's gl5 not GL4 and the viscosity is wrong.

I recently changed mine to red line MT-LV at 11k miles, the OEM stuff was pretty dark and the magnetic drain plug was a little hairy with metallic particles, just what I'd expect at that mileage.

Got it from Opie Oils in the UK, 20gbp per quart.
Took two.

Had my transmission oil changed at around 20k, then another time at 35k because my flywheel broke somehow and they decided to do the oil as well.

After the first oil change shifts were quite a bit smoother.
