Hi all,
Just recently joined, had my Kona N for almost 2 months now.
One thing I noticed pretty much straight away when picking the car up was the brakes are pretty squeaky at low speeds. More so when braking gently on coming up to a red light, for example. Not all the time, but annoying/embarrassing nonetheless.
The only way I’ve found around the issue (and to save myself the embarrassment of heads turning to look for the noisy bus) is to brake a little later (and therefore slightly harder) which results in no brake squeal.
I mentioned it to the dealer when it went in for one of the tyres slowly dropping pressure (‘loose schrader valve’ apparently) The tech’s advice was it was likely due to the car being sat on the forecourt for a while and a build up of crap. A bit more driving should resolve it, if not, bring it back. Unfortunately, it has gotten progressively worse and is pretty much constant when braking.
It’s booked in again for them to have a look but that’s not until early September. I remember reading somewhere that squeaky brakes are a characteristic of the Kona N, but surely not to this extreme?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers,
K.
