Should I wait for the upcoming facelift? / I30N Performance new buyer

G'day!
I had the chance to test the 2020 I30N hatch about two weeks ago and I am sold! I read about an upcoming facelift with a new I30N to be offered in Australia soon. I am not interested in the DCT but would like to hear your thoughts about what is expected in the new model in terms of performance and look. Do you think it is worth waiting for the new model to arrive or pull the trigger now knowing I might get a pretty sweet deal?

You know what the current one looks like - do you really like it? If so, consider grabbing one while you still can and at a cut-rate price (drive a hard bargain). If you're still not sure there's 11 pages of thoughts, speculation, commentary, tease, spy pics and vids, etc. regarding the facelift right here. The digital dash makes me want to vomit but that is just my opinion. Anyway, happy reading:

i30 N - 2021 i30 N

2021 i30 N test mule spotted on the Ring with larger exhaust tips. Prob a mid cycle HP upgrade. Will prob carry over to the Veloster N if I had to guess too. Moral of the story, if you're looking to cop either one you might want to hold off.

Hyundai just didn't get that digital dash right.

Love Audis cockpit dash, volkswagen and Seat has got it right but the rest just feel lifeless and poor.

Thanks mate for sharing. Very interesting discussion, I do agree with you, no digital dash or DCT for me either.

Patience is a virtue. I'd take a wait and see attitude. There will always be left over previous year i30N's. Never force yourself into something , you're not prepared to undertake. :)
 
It's probably going to be a year before the facelift hits the streets. I'd get an i30N now and possibly trade it in for a facelift in 2-3 years :)

Luckily that's a standard offer here for all Hyundai cars :)
Back on topic - I'd buy the car now, as it seems the MY20 will take quite a while to hit dealerships. The potential performance upgrades look promising, but the looks (if it's the same front end as the facelifted n-line - meh).
