PCP / Lease / HP??

Fortunately for Hyundai they might have actually got their claws too deep in most people for them to pull out now.

I think I speak for most people on here when I say I have been following the development of this car since it was first known. It is a special car and ticks many, many boxes for me and my wife.

I do not want a Cupra, nor a Golf R nor a M140i. I really don't, and I'm not just going to see a lower monthly payment for any of these cars and dive right in. It's the I30N or nothing for me -whether that means I wait a while, then maybe.

I have a decision to make, my wife eloquently stated that 'you only live once' last night but I'm still torn as to whether to go for this now....

Main thing for me is whether the monthly payments are within budget. Agreed I would much rather have a I30 N over the alternatives and for me its that or nothing. But if monthlies are too high then I will have to jump out. For the N brand to be a real success however, it will have to sell in numbers and appeal to the mass market - and I think the only way to do this is being competitive.

The more I look into it the more I realise were not comparing like for like.

Were comparing a brand spanking new product with products that have been available 12 months or longer. Of course deals will come etc but not day 1. If this is the car for you then It may be worth waiting if you have the ability to do so.

For those who want in day 1 to enjoy something few others are able to, or like myself are currently without a car and need to do something we may have to / want to get in now. Even if its a little more costly.

The N is a fully loaded car for 28K. Yes at this moment no discount available and the price is the price.
The M140i specced to the N would be close to 40K. Now I know people don't pay that amount and after discounts having just worked out the monthlies it would be roughly the same as the N.

So which would you rather have. The BMW is a lot of car for the money and has a great badge. The N is also a lot of car for the money and doesn't have the badge.

Now I have driven the BMW, The Golf R etc and none were close to making me smile like the N did. Despite being the more premium brand with slightly plusher interior when it came to it they were just fairly bland.

Also when you look at the amount of kit Hyundai has packed into the N how much of a discount can they give it. The M140i gets close to 40K and reduces back. What could Hyundai reduce back to realistically before it starts to hurt? It already starts where the BMW ends in terms of price.

If you knock BMW discount off the N you end up in the class below. With 1/10th of the kit.

Also for some the Standard N withouth performance pack knocks 3k from the price and maybe a good option. Still with a whole host of kit and a touch less power.

All spot on. It's easy to use other brands/cars as a barometer here but I think we do all agree on one thing - the I30N is a very special car and for me certainly, it's this or nothing. NONE of the cars mentioned remotely interest me and really, if you've seen one 1 series BMW on the road then you've seen them all. Each to their own though of course.

Re : the standard car. For me, it's just not the same car. I do agree though that if it may bring payments in line with what some people want to pay at this stage.

Yes - completely agree that the N is a unique car. But I think for it to be "within reach" of most people then they need the competitive deals. The other brands mentioned would not be in reach if they had not had competitive deals, and therefore would not have sold so well. I got my m135i from TRL with an 18% discount just after launch.

I bought my M135i from TRL just as the facelift was released and managed a discount of 18%. Discounts were in place from release. I understand what people are saying about the standard kit in the N but what you have to remember is that the Golf R and BMW M lite are both a rung up in terms of performance both crack 60 in under 5 seconds. The Golf R is also one of the most well reviewed hot hatches of the last 10 years.

The N is something a bit different to the usual hot hatch crowd and Hyundai did a fantastic job with the on the road price they just have to make PCP and leases more affordable than the rest.

Hyundai have responded to the tweet from last night saying they are passing this thread onto the relevant department in Hyundai UK.

Agree with all the above.

The R and the M are in a power class above.

I wonder how we would have reacted if list price was 34K but the PCP deals made it feel affordable like a 28K car.

I feel this is all relative....

Its all well and good Hyundai responding but what are they going to do for customers who bought in early before they did something. If they do that is. Because if in 2 weeks time some awsome PCP deals appear some of us might be a touch upset.

Mmm. This is where I am - I have an offer on the table. It’s apparently as low as it can go but I just don’t know. I suppose you can wait forever and never have the car or take the plunge.

It’s 2000 deposit and 371 per month over 48 months with 9k per annum mileage. Initial monthly was at 420 odd. (that was what I was originally quoted with 1k deposit)

I’m stuck. BTW, this is PCP - my dealer stated last night that the personal lease deals weren’t showing yet?....

Interesting that I think yours is better than mine...

Thanks for the info Crocoman

Thanks for the info. Its an OKKK deal but not great.

Regarding RRP - I think whether the RRP is 28k or 35K - to the vast majority of potential buyers it is irrelevant. The only relevant thing is the monthly cost / deposit. Based on figures above - a Gold R / M135i may seem like a much more appealing prospect (given the higher RRP's and cheaper monthlies) - or it may simply be that they are more affordable than the i30 N for a lot of people.

Thanks for the info. Do you know what the APR / GFV is for this ?

Re Lease deals - I wonder if any of the big brokers will have their own deals?

Just wondering if anyone else is prepared to disclose their PCP offers? Deposit, term, mileage, monthlies.... I’ve requested a 48 mth, 15k mile quote but am waiting for my dealer to come back to me. Judging by what I’ve seen, it’s going to be high! I’ve also asked for a lease quote in the hope this might be cheaper...

Good luck. The lease figures aren’t on yet as far as I’ve been told. I’m going down at the weekend to go ahead with it I think. Barring anything drastic happening in between.

Think it would be good if we could all share finance figures to make sure we are all getting the best possible deals. It could also mean that one dealer might get a lot of orders as I have seen on other forums.

I’m surprised no one has mentioned asking for a discount on the car yet? Or is this the Ace no one wants to reveal?

This is my quote and quite frankly I still think the figures are absurd.. Waiting on lease numbers for tomorrow before I decide to make a move. Quite disappointing there's no contribution from hyundai.

Thanks for sharing. Considering I want 15k miles, I certainly won’t be having one looking at those figures! As you say... absurd!

That GFV is rubbish. That said, I think it will be worth more than that so might help further down the line?
