My only concern would be to take care of the trunk plastics - it is amazing how easily they get scratches.

I have practically given up caring about the plastics. They get scratched just by looking at them. At some point, if they get too bad, I will sand them down a bit and hope for the best...

^This. My whole interior is so damn scratched. Door, trunk, everywhere. Don't give a F anymore.

I take care when transporting hard or pointed/sharp objects - I use a blanket/clothes to protect the plastic and the seats from getting scratched and cracked.

But if a scratch really goes into plastic, that is not the end of the world (for me - anymore)
I agree with you, the plastic is really sensitive. You do not have to damage anything unnecessarily - but the car is a commodity. (if this is the right translation^^)

Agree. I was really carefull in the begining, but then I thought «Heck, just enjoy the damn thing.» It is not going to be a collectors item anyway.

Value loss seems to be very high, so use it and enjoy it!!!

Saw a VN base, offered on eBay for $19K already with 1538 miles. That's over a $6K drop in price with very low mileage. So, they aren't really going to hold their value.

It is what it is.:)

You can get a Fastback N with under 1000 miles on the clock for around £22.5k in the UK at the moment, that's £7k off list, have to hope the depreciation slows a little bit...:D

@padigree I hope I'm not disturbing the regular flow of your thread, but seems on-topic for the moment: what do you guys think about depreciation for a used i30N bought now for the next say 2-3 years?

Looking to buy a used one and not sure what's fair to pay or where to get a good deal on a right-side driving N wonder.

To be honest - To avoid this decision, I bought my car new (13km on the clock).
I do not know what's fair/ I do not know what I would pay because it was very important to me that I know how my car was driven.
I have seen many people on test drives that move the car without a head. Likewise, some people sell their vehicle after 10k km, but before they drove like they're crazy.
I wanted to know from day one, how and where my N drives / was driven, what the defects are and that the service was carried out conscientiously.

Sure, on the internet - many people write that the car was never on a race track, has no damage, was always driven warm and cold, service was made regularly (...).
On the other hand, every day I see enough idiots where I think - will this vehicle ever reach 20,000km?

Those were the reasons to decide for (my first) new car. Maybe you are different - it was important to me. I know that there are exceptions, but where to find them, I can not tell you.

Kind regards

Just look at used car market and compare it to the price you would pay at the moment buying new. The car is out for around 2 years so thats in the timeframe you asked.

Just configured a N perf hatchback with comfort, sunroof, navi on Hyundai Deutschland at €37000, let's say an average discount you can get is 15%, so purchase price should be about €31000 - is that realistic?

A similar used car from late 2017, early 2018 is about €26000, so that's a €5000 depreciation in almost 2 years.

Guess that makes the average price in late 2021 around €20000?

Value loss is the largest cost of the car. For a new car, you can expect about 20 percent the first year. Then about 15 percent of the second-year price, down to 10 percent in the sixth year.

Based on your 31.000 price the value of a car is approx 21.000 after two years.

I would expect somewhat higher value loss for the I30N based on how long they are advertised before sold on the used marked.
