Leave the oil in the car until at least 2-2.5Kmiles. You’re gaining nothing by changing it at 750. It’s not break in oil.👍🇺🇸

Someone have looking a consumption oil in i20n the firsts kilometres?

Hi,

Just wondering is oil temperature 120 - 130*C is safe for our engine. I got track session booked for next week. One one of the movies on YT during track session in Turkey (35*C ambient temp) oil reached 130*C and water 116*C (than gauge goes orange). I'm little worried about this temp levels on "soup" called 0W20....

At dyno 30 C heat I had 110 / 110 C water/oil , I would worried above 120 , and after track session oil change is necessary. Few changes , but oil wear is significiant , and then ppl are surprised that engine less than 100k km broke

120-130 C is a bit high for sustained operation and I’d be looking for an oil cooler. With 0W20 motor oil there's not much oil viscosity protection available.👍🇺🇸

In the owners manual it refers to an “Engine Temperature” of 130° as the point where you should cool down. I remember reading that 0w-20 oil has a fail point of 204°, so don’t be concerned about the oil breaking down…. It’ll be fine…. But watch that engine temp. 👍🏼

I've noticed these cars seem to have crap cooling. It gets up to temperature in under half the time it took my I30N to get up to temperature.

I could get half way to work before my I30N was up to operating temperature. My I20N is up to temp at the first set of traffic lights.

Not true, i20n, gets to operating temp very fast, as it needs to pass the very strict european 6d crappy emissions. I30n engine was introduced back in 2107 and emissions norms were not as strict as 2021. So i20n engine sprays a lot of fuel, at startup, as to create heat and achieve high operating temps faster, as in high operating temps, emissions tend to minimize.

1. try turning off AC when driving on track oil temp will be around 5°C lower from my experience

Don't know how your driving style is, but my N needs around 10 km (in the morning at around 15-20°C) for the oil temps to reach 90°. But I can imagine if you floor it directly after a cold start you'll reach it a lot faster :D

Just keep in mind the i20N is not a track oriented car. Wasn’t built as such and Hyundai calls it a fun to drive car.

Couple things you can try; Radiator coolant additives. There are a few and will reduce running temps by 10-15%. These additives are specifically designed to protect aluminum engine components and radiators from electrolysis, which corrodes parts from the inside out and can cause blockage if contaminates such as calcium and magnesium develop. By adding a bottle they improve contact and allow better heat transfer, and can lower coolant temperatures by as much as 20 degrees Fahrenheit.
Replace the rubber hoses with silicone hoses and changing to a racing thermostat to a lower opening at lower temps. Silicone hoses disparate heat quicker then rubber.

Change the the coolant to a better grade, flush the radiator and purge the system of air.

Use a higher grade ethanol instead of a higher grade fuel.

These changes will decrease the engine water temps enough to run below 110-115 degrees on the track. Another quick tip, when your on the cool down lap turn the air conditioner on low speed.👍🇺🇸

Does anyone know if there is a safe central spot to use a trolley jack for the oil change? Just thinking how to get the car on stands, with the stands on the jacking points below the front doors, thanks

Hello guy's as we are still in the break in routine, I do read the dip stick more often than usual, after a drive every next day. Today I found out that the dip stick shows different readings, depending on how it was inserted. Mine shows me a higher oil level, when I am able to see its saying (1 dot line under FULL). When I insert it with its saying head over, it shows less (4 dot lines under FULL).

Okay in one direction the wire of the stick is more bent, so it dives into oil with dirrent angles. What are your experiences?

Let's start with this:

Keep that in mind, and now the oil part:

I don't think you'll notice a difference if you check your oil levels under the same circumstances every time. If you do, that's a different conversation. 😊
