Took a pic of the delivered Airtec. Hope this clears things up.
Did they give you a temperature range? Id like one that doesnt function until 200FTbh the airtec won't likely be the best oil cooler ever constructed. But in my opinion any kind of oil cooler is enough for the N. So for me price-to-performance just fits with the airtec one.
I asked Airtec directly and yes, the oil cooler does have a thermostat built into the sandwich plate. You can see the spring which controls the mechanism in the pic as well.
Asked myself the same question, but I am still waiting for an answer. As soon as I receive some infos, I'll let you knowDid they give you a temperature range? Id like one that doesnt function until 200F
So summarizing:
- AIRTEC will close the flow to the cooler so I don't need to worry about winter temperatures
- AIRTEC will open the flow if oil temperature will be too high in the summer to cool it down
- AIRTEC we don't need to cut the car plastic or drill bigger holes like in Forge
Is that true ?
And in that case I don't need to worry about inlet/outlet location like people say (that oil will flow down to the car oil pan)
So the only small problem will be change of the oil.All true
The Airtec Oil Cooler will be mounted to the front crash bar using the supplied brackets. You don't need to drill holes into the crash bar as the brackets will go around it.
Its roughly half a qt. You could probably drive for a few days then add as necessarySo the only small problem will be change of the oil.
But how to fill the cooler with oil ? Do it before mount and then connect it - or fill oil again, go for a hard and heating ride and add some some more oil ?
Maybe it's easier to read the installation instructions, that should answer most of the questions. Uploaded it here for you: Installation Instructions Airtec Oil CoolerSo the only small problem will be change of the oil.

I looked for it everywhere and even send them mail with question about this manual.Maybe it's easier to read the installation instructions, that should answer most of the questions. Uploaded it here for you: Installation Instructions Airtec Oil Cooler
no worries, happy to helpI looked for it everywhere and even send them mail with question about this manual.
Thanks so much![]()
Y'all need to stop talking about track days, please. My first of the year was cancelled due to COVID lockdown. Now today I get an email from North Australia Motor Sports Club saying August 1 track day cancelled because of COVID-related rescheduling of V8 Supercars Darwin round to August 8. I give up.
#cancel2020. Now I must drink heavily. Good night.
Futureproof and to be saferI will receive my Airtec oil cooler tomorrow together with their header tank and catch can. Next week I will try to install everything and I can give some feedback.
@kamyk155 - you don´t need additional oil cooler for daily driver if you have no plan to visit race tracks.

Not necessarily. Oil temps are more consistent with an oil cooler in place, especially in high volume traffic and variable performance applications. When the oil becomes hot and above normal operating temps it adds to heat soak and loss of performance. Every aspect of cooling has its benefits in higher performance applications. The more hp produced, the higher the sustained operating temps of the engine.Completely unessesary, but won't massively negatively affect anything if you specifically get a thermostatic one. I suspect a non thermostatic one would make daily driving a bit more annoying as the oil will struggle to get up to temperature.
I'd be very surprised to see that the Air Tec has a thermostat . However in comparison, the Forge Motorsport oil cooler is by far better constructed and designed. It will retain a specific amount of oil in the cooler keeping the sump level at the correct level during initial startup.So..........AIRTEC oil cooler have built in thermostat ?
If yes - this is perfect solution (better for pump, flow only when temperature raise and no drilling or cutting compared to FORGE) but look posts above - people say id doesn't have it and it have bad inlet/outlet places.
I don't know what to think now. Someone say one thing someone other second thing....
Did you not sell the i30N after all?I will receive my Airtec oil cooler tomorrow together with their header tank and catch can. Next week I will try to install everything and I can give some feedback.

Here is info from AIRTEC ------ "The kit comes with a Mocal thermostat plate".
But zero info about their pipes length and can I install it with fittings up...
