Question

So I thought it was best practice to have the hose inlet and outlets at the upper most orientation to prevent air pockets? (Not sure.)

Second question:

How detrimental is introducing, literally, 10 feet of extra oil hosing? The hose wraps from the oil filter location and around the crash bar

I ran Airtec for 2 years with my cam lobes looking absolutely pristine after 60k miles, but the theoretical question still remains.

if its best practice or not, I don't know. I prefer running mine with the connector facing up to prevent overfilling the oilsump when turning off the car and to make life easier for the oilpump.

Disadvantage is that a certain rest of oil always remains in the cooler during an oil change.

shouldn't be an issue.

Typical is 4,8l like You said and less than 0,5l for the oil cooler with hoses.

Anyone actually tracked to compare temperatures with one or another oil cooler? Would be good to know how things changed.

I'm in a bit of a difficulty now as I did a track day on Nordschleife last week and my temperatures were quite high (134 celsius according to infotainment display / the N menu, with 20 ambient). I'm yet to try and add the custom PID to Harry's, didn't have the time to prepare with that. However I assume installing a 3rd party oil cooler I may very well lose warranty at least to anything regarding engine? Also unsure what the dealership would say if I turn up for an inspection or oil change and they notice the cooler. Anyone in Germany thast can testify to this?

Otherwise to be honest I find the Forge one the most trust inspiring in terms of design and installation instructions, seems very detailed with attention to detail. However largening the holes is a question I'm not sure where I stand with.
I noticed also Nexd has some sort of an oil cooler. Seems smaller. Also they are - I think - kinda noname compared to the known names, however they modify Hyundais near Nordschleife so I assume a lot of the cars they work on actually see track time...
Any thoughts? I drive a 2024 hatchback.
p.s. airtec says their cooler is not compatible with FL. forge one appears to be. dunno about rest

Whell Forge drops down 10ºC to max 15ºC on warm day (27ºC), in daily drive temp of oil is around 85-90ºC.

I would like it to be more on track because then I can drive more hot laps in a row

Also FL DCT 2024 hatchback

I'm also considering if Forge could be installed without the big holes, with smaller screws or a different method. Then maybe i can remove it before big service inspections and change the oil elsewhere not at dealer.. :p but let's see if any further reports of high temp range as well. I don't care too much under 120, it is where it is, how much it goes from there is increasingly interesting.

Whell, oil was stady at 129ªC after 4 hot laps, at outside temp around 22ºC, but I have Motul Motocool also, it drops water around 7-10ºC on hot laps

Hi everyone,
Yesterday I participated in an open track day at the Slovakia Ring. During the session, I observed oil temperatures ranging between 120°C and 130°C, as indicated on the vehicle's display. Ambient temperature was around 33°C. I'm currently running an AirTec oil cooler, while the rest of the vehicle remains in stock configuration.

how many consecutive push laps did you do?
The oil still can get that hot even with an oil cooler, but it should cool down way quicker.
The oil cooler is not a blank check to do push laps only. You still have to observe the temps and do a cooldown lap if required.

I do 2 Push Laps and 2 Outlaps due to the Break and the Oil temp, after the 2 Outlaps its back to about 90°C. I dont have my Speed Engineering Break Cooling kit Installed didnt had the time to do it. The Laps are about 5.5km long

That 33 ambient doesn't help for sure. I wonder what modifications allow people to do endurance races. :) well they also may not care if their engine is destroyed after...
