My i20N

Latest news -
Ive still got some small issue with the fuel pump. I was thrashing across the twisty roads and got momentary stutter at 5K revs - I only had a quarter tank but it only happened briefly during the drive. Anyway, I’ve booked it into the dealership again for next week.

A Hyundai dealer called me today to tell me about their ‘great trade in opportunities’. Unfortunately I had to tell him that with the discontinuation of the 120N and i30N Hyundai no longer make any car I would be interested in buying!

Hmm… well I’ve had a chat with Jon at Courtenay Sport and the momentary fuel starvation could have been my fault and not a problem with the fitting of the pump. Apparently the i30N can do similar when hard driven with only a quarter of a tank of petrol and I only had a quarter of a tank when it happened - I may even have had a touch less. I was also driving some very twisty roads with lots of elevation changes…..

Mostly modern tanks don't have these, they got mini swirl pots on the fuelpump unit.

One failure could be a none correct mounted hose after the pump recall. The main outlet of the pump is directly fitted with the inlet of the fuel filter, the outlet of the filter is connected with a secured elbow on its end the hose which goes to the top of the unit.

But the pump also got a little hose on its top which seems to be connected with the swirl pot ground down below. Maybe this is tricky one to do.

Not sure if the pumps inlet is this hose, normally the suck from the bottom or it is a kind of a bypass.

Yeah, I believe it has a swirl-pot as you describe. Apparently this swirl-pot is not entirely closed and fuel can ’slosh’ out of it. However, your suggestion regarding the hose connection could also be what’s happening. I need to take the car for a thrashing with more fuel in the car but the weather has been very poor these last few days.

If Hyundai spent as much time on after sales instead of marketing that would be great.

sick and tired of receiving ‘personalised once-in-a-lifetime-amazing offers’ (lol) and, like you, there’s nothing that Hyundai make that I’m remotely interested in. 🤷‍♂️

They can’t be selling much. I’ve had texts, emails, phone calls and snail mail from them all within the last week!

I must be lucky - I don't get much dealer spam.

Regarding the low fuel issues, I am getting bold with running mine to past zero on the range display.
I get annoyed at the tiny 40 litre tank so I often run it to zero now I know I can do it.
Sometimes I can only get 36 litres or so in but recently I got 39.29 litres. I must have been really pushing it!
Probably not wise to run it that low.

I have never received any kind of offer or annoying Mail from them (Germany).
But maybe due to the fact that I never have been there since the day I bought the little rocket :)

How are you liking them? Any added brake noise from the slots?
Well, that’s a very good question but…. I haven’t yet fitted them 🥴! However, I’ve got slotted discs on currently and they don’t seem to produce any extra noise at all. From what I’ve read it’s the holes that are more likely to create a whirling noise when braking at speed - but we shall have to see.

There’s a company called Paintmodz that make various decorative/trim parts for the i20N and one of the bits they make are these inner door trim bits:

It’s not actual carbon fibre, just printed plastic.
Anyway, I thought I could do better so made a template and cut my own version out of vinyl on my sticker cutter:
