Low beam light blurred (one side)

Hi guys,

bought an 2023 i30N Fastback a few months ago and adjusted the low beam height cause it was set way too low from the plant (had to move the screw 5/8 turns).

While doing so in a dark parking lot I realised that the left low beam is terribly blurred in comparison to the right low beam. It was hard to set the right height. I never had a car with such a blurred cut edge.

Has anyone faced the same issue in the past or could you check if you have a similar problem? I guess adjusting the screw for left/right adjustment won't change the sharpness.

while I can't comment on specifically if it is more blurred than it "should be" I'm assuming that's the drivers side beam?

I'm assuming they've taken the approach to diffuse the light on that side to avoid blinding oncoming drivers rather than angle the beam as strongly as on some (older) cars.

I talked to a headlight engineer, Dr. of Physics. He said that both types (sharp edge or blurred edge) are possible in development and often the sharp edge is preferred. Both types won't blind the approaching traffic.

But it is not normal to mix the types - therefore he thinks the blurred driver side headlight is faulty (not manufactured or assembled correctly) and the distance between the light source and the reflector is not as it should be or some contamination is in the headlight.

I can't see any contamination, it looks normal.

Again can sbdy check how his/her i30 facelift low beams look like in front of a wall?
