i30N wing mirror fix

Hi,
My drivers side wing mirror has split at the crease by reversing into a brick pillar. The automatic in and out still works when I lock my car and from the driver door button. The mirror glass is untouched. However the case and indicator plastic glass has snapped. I had a quote for a replacement from Richmond Hyundai farlington for £895 and then £250 for labour. Is there anything I can do to fix or replace for less? Obviously I want OEM. Thank you in advance!!!
Thats gotta hurt??

Hi Shoulders181,

Have a look on Ebay under i30N or N-Line for cars being scapped.

I found a damaged N-Line and managed to purchase the mirrors for £150 each side.

Sorry, but I won't sell these on as I have an I30n and my wife has the N-Line, so got these just incase either of us need one.

As you say, Dealers are charging a fortune for a replacement unit. I also got quoted the same as you, but these do not come painted, so that also needs to be added on.

It happened to me last week, backing into the garage knowing I want to do some work on the brakes, I reversed too near the nearside and damaged the edge of the mirror surround, checked prices, dealer wanted £460.00 plus VAT . Part number is 87610S0120 LH and 87620S0120 RH. Even the scrappies wanted £130 minimum and another said £285 plus VAT for an N one.

I didn't fancy that so I found an ebay seller that had new ones for £169.00 Inc VAT, I offered £150 and got it with free delivery.

The plan was to strip the mirror and remove the bit I wanted which is 87615B in the pic, the reasoning behind this is that the replacement only had about 4 of the wires in the main connector pinned whereas mine was fully populated with 16 wires. Plus the colour was a really nice gray but not piano black like mine.

To continue taking it apart was fairly easy, no clips broken removing the painted cover but I went round the lower edge until it was unclipped by sliding a trim tool from the indicator end all the way along the lower edge. The was a total of 8 screws to remove to split the parts plus 3 under a cover in the mirror hinge area.
Anyway it's all apart and next chance I get I will remove my one, strip it and swap the parts over. I'll let you know how I get on. There was also a useful You Tube video on removing the indicator as there's a screw underneath it. I've attached some pics and will post the re assembly if anyone is interested?
