Wheels i30 N Sedan Premium Rim Weight

Hi Everyone

I recently just bought a 2022 i30 N Sedan Premium and im looking to swap out the rims to some lighter weight ones would anyone know the weight of the stock rims that come on these? also any recommendations id like to stay in the 19s

To be honest the weight of the rims makes bugger all difference, really you only swap one perfect set of 19's for another set of 19's because you really, really don't like the look of them.

If you want to start looking at weight savings then start with the brake rotors.

Personally I hate the look of those wheels but I still wouldn't spend thousands replacing them.

The factory i30N Hatch wheels are forged 19inch so they are probably lighter and a far better design.

Sorry, what?! If you are changing rims the sensible thing is to definitely try and go lighter at the same time.

Everyone who changed from OEM 19" on the PFL i30N to lighter spec 19" wheels reported the change in unsprung weight made a difference.

Hyundai decided to fit forged 19" wheels to the FL i30N, is that just marketing?

Should be around 13.5 kg according to some random dude on YouTube, but don't quote me on that. Sounds about right to be honest.

My personal choice for N cars are the Motec MCR4 Ultimate, 8×19 ET45. They are 8.3 kg at 1200EUR in Europe now (~2000 AUS dollarz). They aren't bad considering the price of OEM, OZs and BBSs out there.

Makes bugger all difference.

You buy a $225,000 Porsche GT4.0 with 20 inch rims over here and they are not forged but for some weird reason it uses forged titanium conrods instead. You have to move to the RS to get forged wheels and the cost is eye watering.

Yeah the forged wheels are a bonus but its cheaper to go 2 piece directional brake rotors for weight savings and you get an actual performance increase with better brakes at the same time.

Would never waste my money on swapping out a perfectly good set of 19 inch wheels, that money is better spent on better quality tires, certainly not for the road anyway if you were going to turn the vehicle into a track car, sure but then you are probably changing them for wider rims.

Hell if they made some ceramic front rotors for the i30N I would be all in, then you get some serious rotational mass and unspring weight reduction.

Hey its your money, spend it on what you want.
