Tuning i20N Engine & ECU Tuning Discussion

@absorb Hi mate, no, no further news to report. I haven't really chased this since around the time of my previous posts here. I intend to ask Cherry more directly about the current state of their progress in the next week or two. I think I'll ask some more pointed questions of the bloke at Tunehouse also to see if they really have opened the i20N ECU up.

Have you looked at the EK1 flash tune? Seems like an ok solution, midway between a racechip/tune box and a dyno tune

I’ve not experienced any issues at all - not as standard, with the DTUK tuning box or now with the Courtenay Sport ECU tune.
Ok, I had engine going into protection and running on 3cyl. From OBD it says misfire on one cyl. Restarting it fixes the issue, until I push hard again. I will try to swap plugs/coils to see if there is a faulty one...

What's the history or the car/engine?

It has 1 year, 26000km, around 6000 of those with a module. 5 track days so far

Ok, not stock.
Do you know exactly what the Box is doing?
Classic tuning box that tricks the ECU to increase the boost and/or timing (not an expert so wait for better answers…)

Anyway did the test of moving the coil to another cylinder and the misfire has moved as well so I guess we have the culprit.
I’ll change them with upgraded ones and throw-in some iridium spark plugs for good measure (looks like the combo is quite popular anyway).

The mechanic says the box might not have anything to do with it as the issue is there with or without. I guess the added boost might have not helped though or the coils are just a bit weak

No, non li uso mai.

i have listened a similar problem in BMW forum. I will give you an advice. 1) Remove the tuning box. 2) remove the negative pole of the battery for 2 hours. 3) restart the car and let it settle.
Go for a ride. If the problem persists, then you have to check the plugs etc. If not then a fault signal from the tuning box is causing the problem.
