How To: Remote Windows

In one of the facebook groups for Australia we have been told that the function to have the windows go down is now not available anymore (if you had it previously, you can keep it.) this is on all the Hyundai cars due to people accidentally having the windows go down and things being stolen or damaged by weather.
...but which actually sux given @Geoff Fear or @Bill Thomas
(can't remember) mentioned on this forum that enabling it was part of the pre-delivery service, which I also note was not officially done on mine according to the service and warranty 'passport' (nothing written in or stamped in the relevant section). Don't think I'll even bother mentioning this at 12 month service in a couple if weeks - talking to Hyundai service people up here is a bizarre experience 9 times out of 10.

Will they be disconnecting the accelerator pedal because people keep crashing while using it. Nanny manufacturer at its worst. The irony of selling a 270 bhp car and trying to protect people from wet seats is strong. Why not disable the windows altogether?

It took me about 2 months (I believe) of talking to Bill, my local dealership and Hyundai Aus to get my windows enabled to go down since they did not do it as pre delivery. The post I mentioned that the windows are now not an option was posted by Geoff. Although after trying to go back and find it I don't seem to be able to, it's possible I'm looking in the wrong place or him/an admin has deleted the post.

Surely giving options such as this should just be in the user dash and it's up to the user to decide if they want to use it or not? I don't believe Geoff or Bill will be able to make any changes themselves though.

EDIT:
I found a post from 8week ago which he mentioned it briefly.

I had thoughts along the same line - you voiced them. I'm not that angry at Hyundai (look what they have given us) but you gave me a good laugh there :D. First World problems...

100% agreement on all that mate. Thanks for chasing that up and happy you managed to get it sorted.

Now I don't want to seem like an idiot... actually I do. This happened to me the other day, I went around to see my Nan and had a call from my uncle (up the same street) do you know all your windows are down... turns out I had sat on the key in my back pocket :D:eek:

Has anyone with a MY19 car able to see if you have open and close windows on the key please?

My dealer is saying that I have down but up isn't a option on my car. It's only the older cars that have it but newer ones don't - are they taking the piddle?

I have a MY20 and dealer says neither up or down show up as options on their computer.

I will have to knock that off my snagging list I guess. Bloody strange removing it IMO

I also have a MY20 (in Sydney). Window close is activated, but the dealer showed me on the GDS module that there is no "Remote Window Open" option. I will have to try a mechanic with a different scanning module, because I have read other posts on here that it can be done.

I've said on here before but worth keeping everyone updated, Mine is a British September 2018 car, I have windows up but not down, the dealer said there is no software in the car to support it, No idea why there are such variations amongst us but I believe what I've been told, after all it would be such an easy fix for the dealer that I don't believe they would trouble themselves to disappoint, of the two windows up is vastly more important so I don't loose sleep!

It is now Hyundai Australia's policy not to enable it so owners don't accidentally turn it into a 4-wheeled swimming pool or make life easier for low-life opportunists.

Hyundai officially removed windows down from the official scan tool options for security reasons: accidentally opening the windows. Geoff Fear has posted about this on the AU FB page.

TBH I didn’t think it would be a thing, but I’ve read one member on here who did it by accident. So go figure.

As that setting is removed from the scan tool, those that have it get to keep it and those that don’t cannot get it. There are a few options:

1. Suck it up (as I have)
2. Find a Hyundai dealer with a service dept that doesn’t keep their *scan tool* software up to date ;-) this would be the case for late MY19 and MY20 owners with windows down ;-)

Just like our politicians, it appears they think we need to be saved from ourselves .

Welcome to 2019 where someone somewhere will sue you for something if they can.
Where common sense is now extinct for the majority of people.
Where no-one will take responsibility for the own actions and its always someone else's fault especially if that someone has money. Micro Rant over. Have a nice day.:)

I was in my local Hyundai dealership on Tuesday to have my auto up enabled, but they couldn’t find the function on their computer, they even tried the showroom fastback and that didn’t have it either ,my hatch is 2018 model, the service manager swore the he had done this on other N’s before and couldn’t explain why mine didn’t have that function?

That is because it was removed, and they can no longer do it. I had the same experience at my dealer too, they even showed me the programming unit and there wasn't a setting to wind windows down anymore. They did however show me the SLIF, which they kindly enabled for me.
