How To: Dashboard/Windshield Noise Fix

I know it doesn't take that long, I just wanted to avoid some work if it's not necessary.
Yeah, it's a rubbing and I don't know the source of it, but thanks for the reply.

hey all, sorry for the bump

I started experiencing a plastic creak/rattle from the front, and assumed it would be the issue from this thread. I went through the fix and the noise has lessened but still persists. I have also removed the noise generator while I was doing the fix in this thread, but I was wondering what else the noise could be?

It sounds like the end of a piece of plastic rubbing against something, happens on non-smooth roads, intermittently. Almost directly straight infront of driver's position, near the windscreen area.

Any other common issues that could cause this creaking? MY 2019

Are you completely certain that you reinsulated all the plastic prongs on the cowl? If done correctly it makes it much harder to reseat the cowl into position. I used fabric insulation tape.

I think so, my main thought is I used too much heat on the shrink tube and it has hardened at the edges, making more surface area for friction. I will take another look tomorrow and maybe try a soft tape, cheers

In my case the noise came from the plastic cover of the dashboard (where the speedometer is). I removed the black frame and put some noise isolating strip.

Hello! Is it possible for the noise to appear at 1900 miles? I got a clicking sound that might come from the dashboard on the passenger side.

Yes, that would be possible.
However, I haven´t heard of a FL with the problem, do I think they have fixed it in the production of the FL now.

Can somone tell me how big the shrink tube has to be ? How many mm?

Does somebody know how wide the plastic prongs on the plastic trim are ?

Would a 25,4mm heat shrink fit over them ?

Not without taking the cowl off but lookimg at the pictures in the original post it should be fine.

The pictures are not available anymore. Does anyone have them saved somewhere? Thx

Pictures show okay on mobile site, for some reason not showing on desktop site.

It's working fine for me on desktop, but I'll download the pictures and repost them on our forums instead anyway, just in case the hosting website does weird đź’©
