Haven’t driven manual before

No that’s normal - it’s what a clutch does: let it out friction on the plates occurs and you move, the further out the pedal, the more friction. Eventually it’s fully out and the plates are maximally connected. Prior to that point it’s called “slipping the clutch”.

The antistall is that it automatically increases the revs a bit. I’d rather do that part myself :)

I didn't know about the anti-stall feature, so thanks for pointing this out.

I stalled the demo car as we were exiting the showroom parking lot on my test drive! And I've been driving manuals since before a lot of you guys were born.

In my first week of ownership I think I stalled about 5-6 times and it still happens occasionally now, after nearly 4 months.

It's not as smooth as a gravy sandwich to be fair.

My previous car (fk2 type r) was the same, there are sweet spots that can be found. 🌈

I found i30n clutch is way too far to press in to be able to change gears. In the tyre R it's shorter press distance. Is there any way to adjust this?

Wait not, my friend - take the plunge and you shall be rewarded in the long run. Bit of advice for you and @BoyRacerN - this car has an anti-stall feature. Until you get used to it, and when moving off from a stand-still, just let the clutch out with no gas pedal at all. Not too slow, not too fast - just fully ease off it with a little bit of intent. It will not stall. Then get on the gas once you're moving with clutch out.

I moved through bumper-to-bumper traffic for at least 2km after a traffic accident up ahead without touching the gas pedal once - just clutch out, crawl, clutch in and brake when it backed up again. Repeat. Soon as you touch the gas without clutch fully clamped on the flywheel the deal is off and you're on your own. And that, gents, you will only get with experience. Enjoy!
Well that's another thing I learned today about the N and I have only had it 6 months, as soon as this lockdown is over it will be the first thing I try thanks.

Seems to happen to me most when I am trying to reverse into a parking space do you find that?

that’s sick! Once you get the hang of it lemme know how long it took you. I’m still a bit 50/50 because of the manual issue, but apparently a DCT is in the works so maybe I should wait until then??
hey man, given the lockdown in Victoria, so not too much driving, i've gotten the hang of driving manual in this car in about 3 weeks, confident enough to drive around as normal. not perfect, but good enough to drive around. i've been driving a bit more now and i'd say each week i can notice myself getting better at it. this is given my 0 experience before this car. at times i thought i should have just bought an n-line, or a gti or waited for the DCT to come out but once i got the hang of it i've really enjoyed driving the manual and im happy i went with this car

if you are wondering how long it will take you, of course you may be faster/slower, i'd say 1 month of driving (especially in lockdown as you can take longer out and about cos there are no people on the roads so make the most of it). i had good timing because when i got it the roads were dead, now im noticing a few more people around.

just thought i'd update you in case you were still considering.
