Cold start: N vs Normal

Is there a difference in term of sound if I start the car in Normal or in N mode? Cold start will sound always the same?

As the Start default for unmodified N-cars (in the USA anyway) is Normal, the question is N/A, however the flap is observed to be full open on start and closes when the start cycle is complete.

I was told when I bought my car from new not to run N mode until the engine is properly warmed up, so have stuck to that rule.

Any N mode is fine after a cold start - just wait for oil (160+F) & water(190+F) to reach normal operatiing range before pushing it.

I run custom N from start - I just change gear at 5k and don't use full throttle until the temp dial has got close to "normal" (never liked normal steering weight or throttle feel)

I'd try and keep it below 4k, but no lugging, until it's warmed up.

Yeah I probably should have been clearer - gradual rev rise as temps rise rather than up to 5k from cold cold...

Context: I've an uphill junction onto a dual carriageway that is normally a standing start or at best 10mph, it's about 5 mins down the road, so the elec rev warnings lights are still orange but are going out (temp dial about 1/4 of normal). I tend to short shift it in 2nd at 4kish but let it run in third to 5k rpm to get up to speed. (habit that formed in my previous mustang as if I went too hard in 2nd due to the camber change from the junction to the road it'd fishtail in the dry)

Ohh shit, and here I am tripping about shifting over 3k before reaching OT lol
Is a 5k shiftn safe to do on these before hitting operating temp?
