Brakes Brake Upgrade Discussion (Discs / Pads / ... )

I gave them a hammering on track and they did get slightly softer. I think more to do with overheated brake fluid than anything else. Checked out at the garage later and all were still in good nick.
Can you get performance Dot3?
Also have to say my rear pads do sound quite loud on slow braking.

Yes, it's called DOT 5 o_O

Nice one, didn't know that. I wonder what the car comes with as standard. Might do a fluid change for the next track day to see if it's any better.:D

Itching to get back on the track....lol. this car's going to bankrupt me:eek:

Must say wasnt looking to do anything to this car but with things slowly appearing i can see a few little changes that may take place. As mentioned above i wont be changing the brakes just because i can but when the time comes i must say a nice looking set of brakes will finish it off nicely

For people that have tracked the car, are the standard pads and discs any good? Best option would be to use same caliper and floating discs with better pads ... the Tarox kit looks very nice indeed but at 3k .. i would say that is overly expensive !

I think that the standard calipers and discs are fine, but I would like to try to race spec pads.

From what I've read, the standard brakes seem to take a bit of punishment and resist fading well. Race spec pads and some hi temp brake fluid will make a decent difference, and maybe some braided lines..

I'll wait the Brembo...it's impossible that Brembo is not interessed about this model for making only the fitting for a braking system that already exist ( 4 pot that is fitted on Golf and Megane RS ).

I think it is the advantage of less weight from alternative brakes that is important as well as performance. So I would consider for that reason.

Nothing wrong with the N brakes. After many laps on a hot track on a hot day, still stopped great. A little soft when they got up to temperature. If anything, the lines changing to braided and better fluid would be an upgrade I would do first.

My intention is change brake lines and buy a Brembo Kit in front ( 4 pot drilled disc ) and maybe in future for the rear ( only for have the same disc ) .
I heard from some friends that set up the Tarox on Subaru and Focus Rs , are not happy because they are faulty.
Wortec seems good , but when something breaks , how i can have an assistance in Italy ? Prefere brembo like this

You can always get Aston Martin calipers which are brembo from vagbremtechnic and get some adapter made up for the N... They work on 340mm disc size on the Volkswagen golf..
That could be a setup that is not going to cost 3k :)
