It seems as though the BOV/recirc valve is actuated by a solenoid that controls the vacuum supply from the intake manifold as opposed to the conventional method of just having it hooked up to a vacuum line on the intake manifold directly. Not sure what the reason is, but it seems to only keep the valve open for a very short period of time after the throttle is released, and then closes it again even though there's still pressure in the charge pipes/IC system. If you have an intake, you can hear compressor surge as a result after the BOV/recirc valve closes during this scenario.

It definitely makes for some odd sounding BOV actuations...
Good find ! And you’re right about weird sounds.. Mine will sometimes blow off with the slightest twitch of my foot when accelerating.

I went with a GFB T9110 and love it! Works great and is very high quality. I have mine at 3 full turns past top dead center. Has great throttle response now and the boost seems to come on much faster. Great purchase.

so Cygnus says we should get the T9010 , and you say you got the T9110 - what's the difference ?

does it matter?

The T9110 is the Mach 2 diverter valve, which is their cheapest, simplest TMS valve. Not as flexible configuration-wise as the T9010, but the mechanism works the same.

It is GFB's recirc. valve. The others are hybrids or full VTA if I am not mistaken. It still can be made to VTA but I just didn't want the noise. Just a personal preference.

I'd like to vent to air for a little noise if possible, unless there are any drawbacks to doing that (performance? mileage? AFR going shitty because you just lost air that was measured but never went into the system?)

Yes, it certainly does. It was made for the i30N. Just lubricate the fitting with some soap (bar) or a bit of silicone spray and work on to the fittings.

I utilize one on my VN.:)

The solenoid allows the BOV to be opened precisely and during a variety of conditions (including under boost). This also allows the BOV to be used as a safety system (for limp mode, overboost, etc)

Anyone have any opinions on the garage line bov? I was looking at their hybrid valve option.

I am not sure if the Turbo XS one is adjustable but seriously you cannot go wrong with the GFB. IMHO, the best blow off valve made for the I30N and VN. And it's adjustable and you can take it apart to clean them. Good luck with whatever you choose.

Thanks for the response Mike! I agree that the GFB is most likely the best BOV for the VN. I personally don't want to have the liability of the adjustment being off and myself cause the compressor surge. If there is a good unit that takes the guess work out and is correct my adjusted as it comes I would be more than happy as I am unsure whether I will keep it on. Still undecided if I love the sound of not haha. Again, thank you for the reply!

Is the TurboXS hybrid valve adjustable or is it pre-adjusted and set from the factory? Thanks in advance!
Can be purchased either way to divert or Hybrid. Is adjustable for proper setup.

I utilize the GFB Deceptor Pro II. It about as adjustable as you can get. Can either be diverted or set anywhere in between.

I can tell ya what I did. The unit comes with the center screw level with the black top. I call that "top dead center." With it level, mark it with white paint. Let it dry. I used some white touch up I had for my car since it white. This will allow you to see where you moved the screw. You'll be able to feel compressor surge, especially around 80 mph or so. As soon as you let off the gas you'll feel it surge if the screw is turned to far down. If that happens, just turn it a half turn back until that feeling is gone. I have mine at about 2 and three quarters turned down past top dead center. I get no compressor surge at all and boy does this car have much better throttle response now. I think you'll love it. Plus, we can all hep you dial it in. No problem...

Hey guys, any idea what the difference between gfb t9210 and t9010?? I see both are they hybrid design. In my understanding the t9010 allows you to have any recirc/vent ratio you would like while t9210 will only allow for either 100 percent vent, 100 percent recirc., Or 50/50. Please let me know if I am on the right track here haha. If this is the case I may be leaning towards the 9210 unless there are real advantages to the 9010 as the price difference is about $120.
