Black Hyundai Badges

Removal time. Badge overlays were fried and warped from the sun and heat and very brittle, so with a bit of persuasion they just disintegrated except for what was still attached to the (very) hardened silicone adhesive leaving me with this...

Grab some needle-nosed pliers, gently peel back the edges and jet some WD-40 in behind them, leave for half an hour or so and go have a beer to allow the silicone to soften.

Come back and just keep grabbing the loose tabs with the pliers, gently peeling off the debris.

Leaving you with this:

Get stuck into it with a rag soaked in petrol and wrapped around a plastic trim removal tool.

Once all the silicone goo is gone just rinse, shampoo, dry and wax the surrounding paintwork.

Rock on.
Where was your OCD when you realize the overlay was like that???? 🤣
Nice job on that badge (Any excuse is good just to wash, dry and wax the pain)

Looking for some feedback on these badges as I have a set on the way along with the black n badges for front and rear. I’m in Scotland so can’t imagine they will deform / melt feedback appreciate prior to install.

I don't think they'll suffer as much up in the north of the UK mate. My car is not garaged and is subjected to rather extreme climate conditions even by Australian standards. The rear of the car cops the full aspect of the sun both at work and at home, the front badge cover was nowhere near as bad (not really deformed, just a little faded).

You should be totally fine. I live in southern Norway. The badges have been holding up great. I think this is only an issue in scorching hot areas.

Thanks very much for the info. Not arrived just yet and I thought I was going to have to add them to my performance blue Henry hoover 😂

The overlays "do the job" if you forget what they cost. I'm on my second set......there won't be a third, I'll paint them if I need too!
Have low expectations and you'll be fine 😆

Brings a little Mad Max into picture for me!;):)
From my favourite band to my favourite movie. Bloke down the road from me has this stunning replica of Rockatansky's first XB MFP Interceptor. Working lights, sirens, everything. 2018 Pursuit Special lurking in the far background, lol.
