Brakes Bigger brake kit?

For those who used 10 or 15mm spacers to clear the stock rims, did you keep the OEM hub studs or are they too short? I think minimum engagement should be same as the stud diameter (i.e. 12mm, i.e. 8 full turns)

Somebody know ir i30N PRE or FL brake kit run on in i20N with stock wheels?

Kind regards.
I've asked to some guys who use it and confirm they do. You only need a 3mm spacer between hub and disc. I'm disappointed that pad size of i20N and i30N is almost the same...

You use spacers that have their own integrated studs. The existing studs just bolt on to the spacers.

I see thanks! I guess the OEM rims do have spaces between the holes where the protruding original studs can go. I was thinking about my aftermarket rims that have a flat surface on the hub face, but those I think can clear big calipers easy

the standard calipers are single piston and this operates on the inside of the disc so the outside is quite slim as it only supports a brake pad. Most (all that I know of) big brake kits are four piston, two on the inside and two on the outside - as such the thickness of the caliper on the outside of the disc is significantly thicker as it must house two pistons and the brake pad. Unless you have specifically taken account of this wheels will not fit over the brakes, irrespective of the inner profile of the wheel. My OZ Ultraleggera wheels have an offset of 45mm and this only clears my Brembo brake caliper by 1mm at its inner edge. They are 8” wide and are level with the edge of the wheel arches.
No wheels have a flat inner face all the way to the centre hub and, even if they did, the standard offset would not allow them to clear big brake calipers.

Not sure we are talking about the same thing… I was referring of the surface where the rim meets the brake disc. On the OEM rims that face has the 5 holes for the studs (obviously), but between these holes there are empty spaces (red below), which I guess is where the nuts that screw the wheel spacer to the hub and brake disc assembly can sit?

On some rims that face is totally flat (saved for the 5 holes) and so you cannot screw the wheel spacer to the standard studs unless the nuts and studs will sit flush with the spacer (impossible unless a very big spacer is used as the OEM studs are longer than 15mm).

Interesting that your OZ barely clear the calipers, are those from Megane 3 RS?

Yes, sorry, my fault. Yes, they are Megane 3 RS calipers.

I'm taking advantage of your post to ask a question. I like the Megane 3 RS calipers, but I have a question about the disc size. Can I choose the original 320mm x 28mm discs or the adapter for 345mm x 30mm discs however, the Megane RS calipers are originally mounted on 28mm discs, not 30mm discs. I think this could pose a problem when fitting the pads and also impact the braking experience.
What do you think about this?

Those calipers AFAIK are used also on Lancer Evo which has 320x32mm discs

Can confirm the disc size fits but not great with the Megane caliper. part of the pad will hang away from the disc. ideally you would want a 330mm disc or find a kit that comes with the disc and make sure that when installed the pad makes full contact with the disc.
Where are you sourcing from?

I understand what you're saying, although my real doubt is whether the Megane 3RS caliper would work well with a 30mm thick disc, taking into account that the caliper is originally designed for a 28mm thick disc (like ours or the Megane RS disc itself, regardless of the disc diameter).

I will buy the bbk at K-SYSTEM.PRO

again, this BBK doesn't come with discs which is sus from my experience when it comes to fitment. 345 is i30 sizing but disc thickness will bring the disc closer to the inner/outer edges of the caliper. i did test fit some discs at 324 x 30 and found to be much closer to the caliper compared to the i20 disc. the caliper performance is good and pad selection for the vehicles use make a kit like this great fun i just wish it was better fitting pad to disc surface

Has anyone installed an upgrade brake kid on 17” rims?
Do you think the K-SYSTEM.PRO Brembo upgrade would fit?

Hello, I have the megane rs calipers with 17" x 9" rims, no problem at all. But I would recomend as TypeN says, this caliper with a size 320mm disc doesn't work there is too much brake pad for it. Just go with 325mm / 330mm discs so it works properly.

Do you have any specific recommendations that do not require reworking?
