Battery options?

Well, one thing guys, I just swapped my battery to a AGM one, Varta A8, wondering if some kind of configuration is required to do through OBD or ECU will learn it itself? Specially taking in count that is a different type of battery.

Hi, all you need to do to after replacing the battery is shown in Post #23:

Connect the new battery then switch ignition on for about 30 sec. (not start the engine), switch off, close all doors, lock the car and leave it alone for at least 4 hours, then the ECU resets the learned battery values and start new learning cycle.

Keep im mind that the car use recuperation and not charge the battery all the time. If you want to be sure to charge the battery while driving you can switch headlights on, then a constant charging is enabled.

You can prove this with a voltmeter in the 12V Power Outlet. as example with: ANSMANN Power-Check

Is there any reasons that a car being parked for longer periods couldnt have a solar panel type maintenance charger put on the dash? probably the cheaper ones dont have useful protections in them or they just dont provide adequate charge, but i'd love to hear if anyone knows some that do work. i am skeptical about most i see in online marketplaces.

I have 3 cars at home now so i can't drive them all regularly and my previous daily-driver is showing signs that the battery is draining while parked (all cars have dashcams with voltage cutoff)), but i dont want to be always replacing batteries if theres an economical way to keep them topped up without having them plugged into mains. not looking to sell the spare car as my son will soon be old enough to drive it.
