Lol.....It isn't news to them as it was reported to them waaay back when they first released the filter.

They just don't think it's an issue and worth reviewing. Which tbf it probably isnt!

Was news to me (i havent been here long), i apologise, but as previous response from someone else here that also replied, airbox lid holds it in place :)

Just had the forge intake and elbow fitted to mine, seems to make a difference, sounds good spooling up, and seems to pop a bit more low down.

Finally got the ITG induction kit installed today, was a bit of a struggle due to the remote heater being in the way.

Also a big thanks to @loafer-N77 for selling me his ITG induction kit so I could save a few bucks!

Sound is amazing so far, absolutely love it!

The heater hoses are bit of a tight fit, but i tested the heater already and it still works fine. However I'll try and get rid of the small kinks in the hoses in the future.

Can't understand why intake designers aren't going down the route of a completely sealed airbox with a cold air feed like the Sxth Element prototype as per post #1 in this thread:

This makes the most sense to me in terms of keeping pre-'cooler intake temps down.

I completely agree, every car I've had has had an intake, but they have all been closed systems (be it carbon/kevlar or CAI type). Why you would want an exposed filter in such a hot engine bay is beyond me. Sure, it will provide better sound and probably better performance once you are moving, but not in idle, traffic or any sort of slow track with a lot of bends.

I would prefer this, i have the inclosed pipercross filter and would prefer and inclosed intake pipe. Only one I have come across is from HDT and its near £300!!
I just cant stand that flutter sound of an open filter.

Because at idle, hp doesn't make any difference. When the car is moving with plenty of intake air volume, IAT's are close or at ambient temp. Heat from the engine bay and intake is quickly displaced by colder air entering past the radiator and into the air intake inlet.

So, unless the owners is utilizing the i30N as a drag racer and needs the instantaneous hp, it's actually a moot point to have an airbox encasing the entire filter. Horsepower will rise exponentially, as cooler air enter the turbo. It's more important to keep the air temp cooler after the turbo, hence intercooler. Keeping in mind, the turbo develops more heat, than the engine will ever produce.

Fair enough, makes sense. But surely it would be more advantageous (even if only slightly) for it to be sucking air that hasn"t been through a hot radiator first? Or am I just clutching at straws here :D?
