Engine Oil Cooler

That's not the problem. The upper air curtains between the; VN and I30N are different and the bracket placement won't work the same with the VN. The upper Air Curtain on the VN would need to be trimmed to accept the bracket positioning.;)

Forge Motorsports and I are talking about this now.:)

Less expensive is not the optimal word here but cheaper is.:p

Looks like it might. What are the measurements of the bar itself? :)

Measurement and photos are off to Forge Motorsport as required. Now I'll just wait and see! Going to make sure everything is correct.:)

Mike if you decide to utilize it, you're going to have to use well nuts in place of the screws and nuts, to mount to the crash bar. I don't think you want to drill all the way thru the crash bar. ;) They'll secure it just as (wait for it)........................well. :p

Just drill two holes in the top, insert the well nuts, mount the bracket and tighten. The well nuts expand to secure the bracket solidly. :) You're Welcome!!

You can purchase the well nuts locally @ Ace, True Value, Home Depot or Lowes in Hardware or on Amazon. Just make sure you get the right size.:)

IDK, for the Airtec oil cooler and Airtec intercooler is less than a grand for both. I am seriously considering it. Seems like a great deal....

Damn, airtec makes some really nice stuff. Don't know how I haven't heard of them before. Prices are really good too!

EDIT: Also, that intercooler seems great, they state it doesn't even need any trimming/cutting of OEM parts.

If you're going to buy don't buy direct. AirTech shipping costs are outrageous. Buy thru Hudson Automotive or another distributor. :) Most will do free shipping!

Ok, I have a final cost, shipping included to the USA for the Airtec Inter-cooler and oil cooler for the VN. It is......... $1078.00 USD. That is NOT bad at all. I actually may spring for it tomorrow morning.... I have a dremel and some paint if some fabrication needs to be done. I may actually compare it to others and bring it to work and make the necessary cuts there before final install. Can't find a dealer here in the states. If anyone has a website that'd be great. Thoughts?...

Forge Motorsport Oil Cooler; $510.88 at current exchange rate US, shipping which won't be over $100.00. So, $610.00 tops with shipping from the UK and no tax. :)

I don't know Mike but I think I'll wait on the Forge Motorsport Oil Cooler. They aren't that far off wti fitting to the VN.:)

$1078 is for BOTH the oil cooler and the front mounted inter-cooler. It's for 2 units, not one. Would you still wait for the Forge stuff? I want both an oil cooler and a front mounter inter-cooler. How much would Forge charge for both units? I have the money waiting for either vendor.... Thanks for the help, btw.

If I didn't already have the Mishimoto 10row on the way I'd do the Airtec in a heartbeat lol. I messaged Airtec and they are unsure if it would need to be trimmed or not but I'm assuming minor things may need to be done.
 
I bet some fab needs to be done but I bet not too much. If I could get a good package deal from Forge I'd go with them instead. Airtec's prices seem much better. $540 usd for the FMIC and $350 for the oil cooler. The rest is shipping and tax but it still a great deal for both the oil cooler AND the FMIC. IDK, I may jump on it and find out.... Still on the fence about it all.

Hi mike, all I can say is, there is a price difference between the 2 which is more than likely down to the core quality and where it is made, the forge cores are made and welded up in the uk with a lifetime warranty. Forge have also published their results from their intercooler over stock. A LOT of R&D went into the Forge intercooler and oil cooler and it’s all been published. So there is a difference in price, granted, but it’s back to the old saying, you get what you pay for.

Question for those considering this: are you actually finding it necessary to run an oil cooler? Hottest oil temps I've seen was 260 (static) and that was was on a 100*F track day. 260 is just fine for a good quality synthetic.

Most of the time the car sits between 210-220, which is ideal, since the boiling point of water is 212 and you want to use the oil to boil off the water and deposits in the motor.

Running lower than 212 consistently will cause lots of issues, especially with bearings.

That is a VERY valid point. I never get over 210 - 215 at the highest I have seen on this car so far. When just cruising and just driving normal, it never, ever gets over 205. You have me doing a little thinking now. Thank you!!!! ;)

It depends mainly on; ambient conditions, how the car is utilized and in what kind of venues. The biggest problem is temperature spikes that can reach well into the 260-28 degree ranges with concurrently higher ambient temperatures.

Thank you for the correction. However, I'm not sold on Air Techs quality, customer support or warranty.

Yes, I know it's far better quality! Reference @Dan_bush27 comments. :) I've been utilizing Forge products for a long time, even well before the VN. They're consistent in excellent quality, durability and have an excellent warranty attached, with custom support to match. Am I bias, certainly but for good reason.:)
