Real gains from aftermarket air intake system can be achieved only on dyno bench and hood open or outside of town. In real life (esp. during city driving) aftermarket open cone system will give you nothing than just tons of heat soak. Ecu will see high IAT-s and it will make adjustments on ignition timing. Even if you will be able to hold up boost littlebit longer, car will be slower than with Oem air box + Velossa Tech snorkel. As I mention 100-times before - the biggest restriction of Oem air intake system is a fresh air supply.

In the same afternoon (the same 50-degree ambient temps), the IATs were roughly the same between factory airbox arrangement and with the lid off. I'm happy to post what the JB4 has actually recorded. I do intend to do more datalogging once the weather heats up however to see how stock airbox vs "ghetto-cai" compare in IATs. Intercooler efficiency would likely come more into play for sure.. Since the turbo and exhaust manifold are about as far away from the intake as it can be, CAI may not be as detrimental to intake air temps as it is on cars where the turbo/manifolds are much closer. Again, I'll need warmer temps to be able to prove/disprove that.

My point was to only show that the stock airbox does create a restriction with higher boost levels, and not to say that one intake design is better than another. This is actually just some data I discovered as I've tried to figure out what I can do to get the stock turbo to hold boost longer to redline.. I thought folks might be interested in this point.

The aftermarket cone/snorkel may help with that restriction if it's able to produce enough "ram" air affect to get past that choke point I'd previously described.. I'd certainly be happy to test it if somebody were to send me one, but I'm limited to trying "cheap/free mods" for the time being. We could certainly use more "hard" data points about different setups.

You don't know if you have run the car on a dyno. Seat of the pants and a datalogger isn't going to show you what you need to know. Three back to back dyno runs will. If you don't put it on the dyno, you're not going to prove anything. You can't tune by the seat of your pants and just a data logger.

The stock intake is restrictive but for good reason, noise regulations. However, horsepower is not going to increase by 10-15 whp with any aftermarket intake you install. that's just a load of kool aid and marketing verbiage.

What you gain with the OEM airbox lid off, you'll lose when IAT's rise and the heat soak from the engine are sucked into the open box or filter.

Agreed dyno is best, but I'm using the tools I have access to. However, you'd expect that with the same IATs, an extra 1.5 to 2 lbs of boost should result in a change on the dyno. Same amount of timing (no pull) on all runs. This is multiple back to back runs in 3rd gear, where lid on/lid off both produce about a peak 30 degree rise in IAT over ambient. Again that's in 50 degree weather.

Yes I believe so, as most aftermarket intakes are interchangeable from VN to i30N. There's no reason for this not to fit on the i30N. There is only the airbox and filter available, not the intake tube.

As far as ordering from them, I seriously doubt it. Everything is in Korean and shipping details specify in Korea only.
 
I tried to order but there is no option for change of country - looks like Korea only.
I don't see any email address to ask them about it.
 
I believe the products will be offered thru the dealers eventually. They're warranted parts as I understand. I suppose it's time to email Hyundai korea and ask about their plans to offer them outside the Korean market.

Keep your eye on eBay though.

Yesterday I had the impossible fab air intake installed at their moorebank factory (could do myself but was there to pick up and it’s a free service they offer). Daniel the owner says he has sold about 60. The product is extremely well made and it looks awesome. $635.

In terms of performance I can’t notice any difference at all but I put it in for the sound. I didn’t do the dose plate. The intake and turbo flutter sound is noticeable but not overly loud at all unless foot down and turbo spooling up (calm driving hardly noticeable) - so exactly what I was after.

It may also help some future exhaust and tune mods but I certainly wouldn’t purchase with any expectation of power gains, buy for a sound improvement and if you want the “turbo hoon” sound get the dose plate too (it’s a cheap extra).

They also have a stack of other products coming out including intercooler codeveloped with plasmaman $2200, which I saw in the flesh and looked very good. They do great fab work. Ps: No vested interest at all.

I'm still trying to get aFe intake for a reasonable price :/
But damn those taxes and shipping to Europe.
I would pay almost 600€ for that part although the value is only about 320€ -.-
I quote myself here.
I have found a reseller from Germany who would sell it for 440€ including VAT, tax and shipping.
Delivery takes 8 weeks since aFe power does not have the item on stock.

Their stuff ain't cheap by a long shot but great seeing this company have a go. They've done well to get Plazmaman on board - those folks are huge in the Aussie drag racing scene and the quality of their work is second to none (LS and Barra intake manifolds - I'd buy one as just a display piece on my coffee table ffs, just gorgeous). The prices will come down; this N thing is still a baby in the tuning scene. Just my observations - take my comments with a grain of salt as the only thing I'm considering modifying on my car is rolling stock for track. Been down the tuning route back in the day but now I crave a simple life.

I fitted the piper cross induction kit to my car at the weekend and a GFB Adjustable-Bias Vent now the induction kit has made the exhaust sound far meatier at idle deeper lower I was amazed really how it has improved the sound of the car and when revved up well it just puts a massive big smile on yer face the car sound very aggressive now just what I was looking I am sorry I did not do thsi far sooner the GFB Adjustable-Bias has given a lift to the car as well just my observations after the install as I am well used the sound and performance of my car after driving it every week for the past 2 years. Was it worth the money fitting these aftermarket parts hell yea as there are definite gains to be had by just doing these two installs took no no more than 1 hr to fit which was an added bonus simple.

Well I got an email back from Plazmaman (https://plazmaman.com) they said, "being the i30N was a limited availability automobile, they didn't have anything in the works yet!" So this leaves it open as a possibility.

I suggest everyone that's interested in an uprated intake manifold, please contact them by email https://plazmaman.com/contact/ and let them know you're interested in them producing one for the i30N.:)
