Black Hyundai Badges

We have been over this before with the “conspiracy” theories...

He makes great badges for a fair price...Maybe he does this thing as a side job? The man deserves to make some money for the work. After the cost of equipment/time/packing/eBAY-expenses what is left does not make him rich...Lucky for him, no one in China makes them...

I have his badges on my car and love them.

PS: I don’t know the guy...;)

On the Nov 25, 2019 post #511 you commented to a fellow n-cars.net response jumping to the badge makers defence. Then on Nov 27, 2019 post #519 MarkMark agreed with me better to black plastic paint those H Badges.

The fact that GazmaN on Nov 24, 2019 post #504 his H Badges are starting to shrivel up in the heat and wanted to buy a 2nd set now the seller does not post to AU says a lot about the quality so seller only selling in colder climates, lol.

@ Mightymoo I am entitled to my opinion and this seller of these badges is deliberately keeping stock low so when new stock is advertised all the wee minions on n cars-net are all over it like flies round the proverbial it is a good marketing ploy & I am only repeating what GazmaN said Nov 25, 2019 post #509 please allow me my opinion and guess what @Mightymoo I don’t know the guy either but there is such a thing as me being entitled to express my opinion. I don’t jump all over anything you say because I have no interest in anything you say. But hey your money your choice to me that price is rather high for what is essentially a hollowed-out piece of plastic that shrivels up in Australian sun. It is a wonder Hyundai don’t incite copyright infringement as he has copied a trademark of Hyundai without their express prior permission. Does he pay royalty fees for every H Bade set sold according to s.arhangelov on Nov 25, 2019 post #508 and I quote in brackets (The dude selling them has made tens of thousands of euros up until now just on i30N covers)

I will paint my H badges and then the paint will never shrink in the heat at least that is a bonous and I know his badges are shrinking and I know how to stop it but I would never share that on here, each to their own. EH!

Let’s be all grown up about this now, take a deep breath? Hold it! Now exhale slowly.

I'm a part of this hot aussie sun club... what paint would you use to prevent shrivelling? :D

Bumper, black spray paint any autmotive black body paint will do just find the colour and texture to your liking is your friend. The H badges do not need any primer applied as you can just paint straight on top of the badges. It will be a difficult job very slow but worth it in the end I am sure you will be able to buy a can of black bumper paint for £8 or $15 AU or maybe even for less.

Just spray into a small container and use a brush to apply, I would rub the H badge with very fine wet and dry sandpaper just to give it a key before applying the pain once the job is doe it will last a lifetime.

I believe the H Badges everyone is buying and shrinking in the heat is the fact that the plastic is just shrinking because it is of thin construction that is why badges on any car are made out of solid plastic, as solid plastic will never shrink. Hence applying paint to solid plastic the paint will never shrink either.

Interesting you say the seller does not post to Australia....I have a set on the way to Melbourne. He has no issue posting them to me.

i did not say he does not post to Australia GazmaN on Nov 24, 2019 post #504 stated that fact just look that post up or to save you the bother and I quote in brackets. (Thanks man. I wonder why he does not post to Australia anymore? He did earlier when I got mine. Was gonna grab a back-up set as the heat is starting to shrivel the rear one but no dice.. )

For the record, it did state on ebay when the second last lot went up for sale "seller does not ship to Australia". And with the most recent batch - no such message. So my back-up set is on it's way . Maybe part of his awesome marketing ploy? Anyway, the front one is mint, just the rear crinkling up a bit on the H portion (outer oval is fine) - she's not garaged, and the climate where I live is particularly harsh even by Aussie standards.

It baffles me how some people here get all worked up because someone is selling a product on eBay.

It is totally optional to buy and no one forces you. The guy is not tricking anyone.

I agree that is not cheap, but the marked is limited and the fit is perfect. Also it is not like he can crank out 10 000 badges to get the cost down.

I happily pay the price he asks for to get black badges on my car because I don’t have the time, skill or patience to make it look good doing it myself. Also it is easy to reverse if needed.

If you live in a very hot and sunny climate, you may consider using other methods to get black badges, according to above info.

When that is said, it generally hard for an ungaraged car in a very hot and sunny area. Here is some research for anyone interested: https://www.researchgate.net/public...s_inside_a_parked_car_in_hot_and_dry_climates

You would be surprised of the extreme temps measured. It was up to 80 degrees celcius hotter inside the car compared to outside temp (120 vs 40). I cant even imagine the exposure on paint/trim on the outside.

I live in a cold climate and my badges will probably outlive the car ;)

Merry Christmas!

For those who want to turn their H Badges black watch this simple tutorial, on using a can of Plastidip does the job nicely. Then all you need to do is seal it with clear houshold matt varnish.
