Issues with 5th/6th gear (and 1st/2nd)

It wouldnt do any harm to take it in for them to have a look at the very least.
I admire your confidence. Just a day so they can replicate the fault, then maybe a week while the gearbox is stripped, repaired and rebuilt by an unknown quantity, then the doubt as to whether this is really a proper fix. In the meantime, without your car and sat in a courtesy car if you're lucky.

I think I'll wait for more information.

Sounds similar to the behaviour on mine.

It wouldnt do any harm to take it in for them to have a look at the very least. Just show them the image i attached in the above comments of the "TSB" notice. They should be able to trace if yours is within the specified part/VIN numbers for sure, that being said if you are experiencing what you mentioned above then its more than likely the same issue.

My take on it is that i understand with modern transmissions the tolerances are tight, (I.e shafts, linkages and leavers) and i suppose theese components would free up with wear over a period of time (Bedding in) but shifting gear on a car less than 12 months old should be no trouble whatsoever.

So again my advice is take it in for them to investigate if you have doubt. Time to use that 5 year Hyundai warranty.

More 4k km-s and i go to oil change, and (because my last dealer is a peace of....) i change dealer, and i ask this issue, and report the other common issues again (Fader issue,Linen carpet problem, after fuel reset problem, etc. ) i hope there was no more fault's on a new car. I love it, but this is a little bit annoing me.

Try a month and a half and counting

This can't be true or Hyundai would have to issue a recall.
Sadly at the time I didn't have visibility of the document posted in this thread to back me up and had to take their word for it. Clearly there is a part shortage/high demand for the ring so it would definitely make sense for people to get the dealer to order the part in prior to handing the car over.

Very true, a gear box stripdown on a modern transmission could well be close to rocket science for some.. and the monkeys that come strait from college now into theese dealer workshops couldnt peel back a bannana, never mind a complex drivetrain. as long as it doesn't come from my pocket and is warranty I feel I'm covered financially. If problems persist after its been in I'd just be forced to throw the key back at them.:( bonus that I made sure I'm not getting an I10

Great info! Do you have the list of parts/part #'s for this TSB? I'd like to get the ball rolling for something similar for the Veloster N's since they have the same issue but no recall/TSB as of yet. At least then I can show the dealers that the same issue is happening with the i30Ns, which use the same transmissions, elsewhere in the world.

Also, could you verify the TSB #? It's a bit blurry/hard to read in that pic.

I've had this issue a few times, good to see there is now a TSB out on it. Will contact my dealer next time it occurs. See how they will handle it.

They must have had it ages! Can remember Lee telling me when it went in because you couldn't get in 6th!
Yep, think it went in for the service on the 5th December and they kept it all that time. After driving a Tucson and god knows what else for the last month I haven't stopped smiling all day driving the N again :)

80 miles today, not a single issue getting into 6th so far!

Glad to hear it's resolved! Do you have the list of parts they replaced (ideally with part numbers) by any chance?

Just got a call from my dealer.

They are Not getting one of the needed parts for the gearbox repair in time. So we decided to cancel my appointment until the part is available.

Mybe I'm really lucky with my dealer, but that's what I call a good performance.

They informed themselfes about the issue (just told them about the issue and did not give the gathered informations from this thread) and they didn't even try to argue about it.

So it will be fixed after the missing part is available. Now it's up to Hyundai.
