Hey guys,

first post here, so go easy on me 😄

I’m having a pretty frustrating issue with my 2024 Hyundai i30 N and I’m hoping someone here might have an idea.

Problem description

Under hard braking(without triggering abs) (especially at higher speeds,(100kmh+)), the car pulls noticeably to the right.

  • Under light braking / low speed, the car remains perfectly straight
  • The issue only occurs under higher braking load
  • The behavior is consistent (always pulls to the right)

What has already been checked / replaced

Braking system

  • Brake discs and pads replaced multiple times (3 different combinations tested)
  • Issue remains unchanged → always pulls to the right
  • Brake calipers checked → moving freely
  • Brake system bled 3 times using a diagnostic tool → no air in the system

Vacuum / brake booster

  • Previously had an issue with a hard brake pedal
  • Important: even before that was fixed, the car already pulled to the right under heavier braking
  • Check valve replaced → that issue is resolved
  • Current problem still present → likely unrelated

Suspension / tires

  • Winter tires + 3 different summer tire sets tested → no difference
  • Wheel alignment checked and adjusted → no change
  • Control arm bushings inspected → OK
  • Car is nearly new → wear-related issues very unlikely

Vehicle history

  • Delivered to dealership: 05/2024
  • Purchased by me: 06/2025 with only 7 km on the clock
👉 The car basically sat at the dealership for about a year without being driven.

My suspicion

I suspect the issue might be related to the car sitting unused for a long time, but I’m not sure if that could realistically cause something like this.

Current situation

We’ve been trying to fix this issue for several months now:

  • Hyundai warranty support hasn’t been helpful
  • My dealership currently has no clear idea what the cause could be

Question

Has anyone experienced something similar or has an idea what could cause:

👉 a consistent pull to one side under heavy braking,
despite multiple brake components already being replaced?

I’d really appreciate any input or ideas before going deeper (and more expensive) into things like the ABS unit.

Thanks in advance!

Hi, eVes.aT!

I had the same problem, but it concerned an Opel Astra and the issue came after the gearbox was repaired by an official dealer. They crashed the car while making a test drive. They repaired the front suspension, but left the rear axle damaged. I went to the court, but wasn't successful, because of the corrupted judge.

Years later a automobile club made a wheel alignment and told me, that it won't work well, because it's an wrecked car. He asked me, if i would know this. I told him the story of the wreck.

Sometimes new cars are wrecked on their way to the dealer. I hope, your car isn't one of these.

Maybe You can find a garage, used to work on race-cars. They should have better tools to align the suspension. They should be able to test the caster, not only the camber. The spring strut bearing could be different in the height. The springs could be different in their height or during compression. Maybe one damper is very different in rebound or compression. The sway bar and it's bushings, all bushings of the suspension and chassis subframe could be the reason.

Good luck,
Gerhard
