hey guys,
I'm going to try my luck here—hoping someone can help me out.

I have a 2019 i30N Performance (202 kW / 275 hp) model. The only modification to my car is a GPF delete.

My car is throwing code P2478: Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor 1, Bank 1 - Out of Range.
The code mostly appears during normal cruising, but not every day—I'd say every other day, sometimes going a few days without the error or check engine light.
It has never appeared on track or when I was really pushing the car hard.
the issues started appearing about year later after i installed GPF delete, so i dont think its related to that.

I logged live temperature data and didn’t notice any unusual spikes when the error appeared.

I have since replaced the first oxygen sensor with a genuine OEM 39210-2GPD0. At first, it seemed fine, but now the same issue is back.
( Do you guys have any idea what could be causing the problem? The service centers near me aren't great, and the good ones are a bit farther away, so I'm trying my luck here first. If needed, I'll visit a better service center later. )

thanks guys

could it be the sensor in GPF?
392302GGA1 ?
i cannot see live data on those just on the catalyst sensors

I'd say the GPF Delete is the culprit. There is a trick to the placement of the GPF Sensors when running a GPF Delete to prevent this error from occuring.
What kind of GPF Delete are you running? Have you tried swapping the GPF back in to see if the error would occur again?

im running RM MOTORS GPF delete which has that socket with cover inside (to prevent errors from appearing)
few of my friends also run this GPF delete and didnt had those issues,
i checked those sensors in GPF delete today if i see any damage or clogging but they were looking like brand new.

and the check engine light started appearing like a year after i installed GPF delete

i have not tried swapping the GPF back, that probably will be my next step but i have to order new exhaust gaskets, the old ones will leak for sure.

Hello, any news on this case? I have the same issue coming on with P2084...

In the past, only sometimes - as you say, when cruising - it appeared the Check Engine Light.

Now it is always on and I need to replace the EGT sensor I think. Just wondered if you solved this somehow. Thanks!

Did you manage to resolve this issue? @ciubotasebi

I am having the same problem after a failed Fuel Pump. Replaced the pump now I have this issue. EGT errors include P2081 and P2478. I replaced Bank 1 Sensor 1 Oxygen sensor right above the cat next to the turbo to no avail, so hoping I can find an answer on here.

Hoping it's not my new fuel pump that's causing the issues

Hello, unfortunately not yet.

I also have like a leak of air or exhaust gas somewhere. I think it is between turbo-cat.

What I can tell you, it is not the Oxygen sensor, that is Lambda fault and has another code. I also checked that, but it is it.

Interesting you said that with the new fuel pump you get this error. Probably it is injecting more fuel, therefore more temperature on exhaust.

I will have it checked at the dealership next week and will keep the thread updated.

Put the stock GPF back. Reset Ecu. Run the car an check if problem still exists or dissapeared. If no fault code exists, your problem is the Gpf delete itself (structure, hit, leak) If error codes still persist, check for fault sensors. If no fault sensors, check for leaks.

Any luck? Still facing this issue. My thoughts are to test the EGT sensor and loom with a multi-meter, check whether the sensor is broken or potentially the loom
