How To: Headunit firmware & GPS navigation maps update

I never updated to the previous version after all the mention of bugs. Waiting to hear if they have been fixed for this one :)

Had a funny bug today for the first time with my fl, was backing out of garage, rear camera was showing the parking lines and the image behind, my front sensors were lit red and it stayed like that for my whole commute😁 couldn't show anything else on the infotainment. Resetting the infotainment with a pin solved it. I hope things like this are ironed out with these updates.

Did you observed that the volume with the last firmware for the PFL is now different when using Android Auto? Before the update if I had the volume at 15 it was totally fine when cruising, now for the same volume it needs to be at 25.

Also during phone calls.

And yes, I have the volume at maximum from my phone.

This is the 1st update where it really is very different.
depends on what "very different" is to you. Like @Jajodu mentioned, there have been several updates where not only the volume changed significantly but also the equalizer behavior. I at least won't updated my navigation software for a few months, maybe years, since I otherwise have to retune my DSP every time.

I used to update regularly for the maps but since June 2021 all the updates guidance has been bizarre to say the least. I now use tomtom via android auto and it is superb with clear warnings of speed cameras, traffic avoidance and weekly map updates, all for £19.99 per year.
Wished I had done it sooner.
Hyundai software was just as good until they broke it in Nov 2021, it's still not fixed.

Installed the update. I like the new interface design, though not sure why they need "sounds of nature" i.e. birdsong as an audio source.. surely opening a window does the job?
