I'm not getting one but I hate seeing a question going unanswered, so here is my thought (for what it is worth). Discount doesn't come into the equation unless you ask / push the point with the dealer. But I would like to think that having your deposit down would keep you at the top of the queue and ensure you get your car before those that wait and grab one once official orders are being taken (i.e. exact pricing is revealed and desired spec / colour can be chosen). Keep your dealer close either way, and best of luck.

And here we are, stiffer, better looking and better handling competitor to fiesta. To bad it does not have any quality features like i30N did (like best exhaust or great configurability)

So far it looks like a solid contender with lower price. Definately a good car, but not so sure itis good enought to get fiesta out of the pole position

All I see is it looks good, practical ISH for a small car but engine lacks something.
 
All of this talk is subjective about a car being better in my opinion. Particularly in the hot/sporty hatch segment. Which, as we all know too well, is largely blinded by brand loyalty.

The advice is consistent when buying a car for yourself. What do YOU want out of a car? If it’s lap times then none of us on here would have bought a VN or I30N. If it’s something a bit different, a new take on an old formula, then I can completely get that.

For what it’s worth, if the I20N had been the first N car back in 2017/2018 then we’d easily be talking about it being groundbreaking and a ‘class leader’ - unfortunately as with anything, familiarity breeds contempt, and my fear with the I20N is that it’s already fighting a losing battle.

However, if you think it’s the best car for you, go for it.

Exactly this. And further - if you haven't properly flogged it, as well as the car you're comparing it against, then your opinion means nothing. It's like whining about the government of the day when you're one of those people that doesn't vote. And nobody here has driven an i20N in anger that I know of.

Yes, these early impressions are heavily muted, they have limitations and restrictions placed on them by Hyundai and I don’t think they are truly representative of this car. When these cars appear on in dealer showroom, go out for a test drive and make your own mind up.;)

If the i20 N had a 2 litre engine I would buy it but with a 1.6 I will just keep my 2018 i30N and have fun. Would have got the Yaris GR but not a fan of 3 Cylinders unless its a Triumph Triple.

I have lost the hype about this car, maybe is just my problem and the car is freeking awesome but the look of it in my eyes is deteriorating, also im finding realy good deals on my dream car the audi TT mk3 and i think im gona go for that!

Sorry I’d have to disagree with that, what’s actually groundbreaking about the i20N? even with the engine, all they did was pull one from another car and tune it, Ford actually developed a brand new engine for the Fiesta ST, also the ST was coming out around 2018 as well, so it wouldn’t have been any easier back then, but too think the i20N would of been ‘class leader’ just because it was a new hot hatch from Hyundai is a bit of a stretch, if I was to call a car ‘groundbreaking’ it would have to be the GR Yaris..
