i20N - Reviews, General Discussion & Info

I know a lot of people nowadays lease or PCP their cars (I sound like an old git because I am one!) and most people will be chopping it in after two or three years, but the Hyundai will be the only one coming with a decent warranty from the factory. That is in the i20N's favour, especially if - like the i30N - it also covers trackdays. And of course, it could still be a just a much better car than the pair of them!

I'm another one waiting for the comparison test with interest.

I can’t speak for the Polo, but “a much better car” than the Fiesta ST would be an unbelievable effort considering the ST is one of the best cars of driven, I sold my i30N for it, that’s how much I rate it, the N is already slightly slower than the ST, so that’s not a good start, but’s it’s going to be a good car no doubt, just can’t see it being better, fair play to Hyundai if they do tho..
 
The Fiesta gets a slight midlife facelift & tweaks later this year.

The longer standard Hyundai warranty is a plus point, but if the i20N cannot undercut the Fiesta ST a lot of people will just take the default option & go for the Ford.

If the i20N is as expensive as its looking like it going to be then its going to have to be ultra special to stop people ordering a Fiesta.

Here in Oz Ford offers a 5yr warranty, the same as Hyundai, so that won’t make any difference here, I think Hyundai will try to justify a more expensive i20N because it’s a newer car, whether that works for them or not who knows? Probably a risky move in the UK tho because the ST is pretty popular..
 
You're being spoilt in Australia with a Ford five year warranty! I guess they have to measure-up to KIA/Hyundai who have - by my impression - a significant presence in the market. Here in the UK, they're probably not bothered so much as the market is dominated by the VW/Audi/Mercedes/BMW quartet with their meagre three year warranties (Audi may be four, to be fair).

That said, looking at the Ford UK website, extending the three year manufacturer's warranty for two years (or 100,000 miles) costs only £350, so...
 
This car is a weird one for me, when I first saw it I loved it, but now I’m seeing things that aren’t doing it for me any more, that rear spoiler looks cheap, I hate the way it sits up like that, should be something like the i30N has, I’m also not a fan of all that red trim, it’s way too much, a bit try hard, and it will really influence yr colour choice.. other things like the chequered pattern front grill, don’t like it at all, and the wheels are awful.. I think I really need to see this thing in the metal before making judgment..

For me it's also a bit weird. Overall I do like it though, it's just a bit funky and "over the top". They have done so much to make it stand out and look "sporty". It's a bit too much really. I will pick it in all black to tone it down a notch. The 'special design' is not enough to sway me away from buying. To me it's somewhat a matter of Honda civic R. Not exactly praised for great design but fairly easy to forgive as it's simply a great car and lots of people know this. I20n also seems to have 'sport credentials' to back up the design . That sort of "saves it" for me even if I would have preferred it more subtle if I had the choice.

Yeh yr right, Hyundai really wants this to stand out lol, it’s just too much, Black is a good choice, it should tone it down a bit, I’m really over the whole red trim thing along the bottom though, and this i20N has gone crazy with it unfortunately, I just think it’s been done to death now, I started hating it on my N before I sold it, I was going to put some black wrap over it if I’d kept it.. Anyway I’m still keen to test drive it and see how it stacks up with my ST.. if they ever release it that is?

Actualy i never liked the rear wing, is unbalenced with the style of the car and sits too high imo, something more inline with the i30 would be better and it looks cheap, i actualy liked the performance blue with the black roof but now that color in the sun looks way to light.
 
Finally hyundai published official pricing in Poland. Mind you, that we don't have psycho taxes put on cars ;)

Base - 99 000 PLN -> 22 422 EUR
N Performance - 108 000 PLN -> 23 369 EUR.
Optional navi with bluelink - 6000PLN -> 1300 EUR

For comparison, fully loaded Fiesta ST (without sunroof) costs 119 000 PLN -> 25 750 EUR.

I hope it will be same here. I have sort of been expecting something similar to fiesta St.

I don't understand Polish but quite interesting to read the spec sheet (in the price PDF). E.g. I did not know it will come with an overboost function to 305nm torque.

0-100: 6,2 sek.

I tried getting a price through Carwow for the Fiesta (UK based supplier).

For an ST3 with a sunroof, the cheapest cash price was £23,787 (23,787 EUR). The 'price' for PCP deal was about £1,000 cheaper.
 
I live in Australia and am one of the 20 or so people who put a $500 deposit on an i20N late last year.

I rang my local dealer this morning. He told me that:-
*production of i20Ns has commenced.
*Hyundai in Sth Korea has asked Australian Hyundai dealers to add to their i20N orders now if they wanted to.
*What was anticipated as an April 2021 delivery has now been pushed back to June/July 2021 (in Australia).

This pushback suits me but I am wondering what the point of me keeping the deposit with Hyundai current actually is.

Are any of my fellow early adopters expecting any sort of discount on the purchase price (for actually being an early adopter) over those who aren't early adopters but who will seemingly be able to buy an i20N at the same or similar time?
