hi sorry if this has been addressed before.
Today by chance I placed my Samsung s8 on the charging plate in its protective case and to my surprise and pleasure it charged.
Previously I had taken it out of the case .
Just thought I would share this

I though that the qi was a standart with i30n, but seems like mine is missing this feature, will have to check with the dealer.

the charging technology is called Qi :)
Yeah, that was what I assumed as well, called the dealer this morning and he was a bit stunned as well, said that he'll check it out.

Duh lol ok haha ofcourse :)

Try to put your phone in the centre, without a case and if it's charging there will be a green light that goes on when charging. Try someone else's phoneas well to test. What phone do you have?

it's not a phone issue, I have Sony xperia z3 with official sony qi cover and my brother has iPhone 8. they both charge ok at home.
Problem is that the pad and the light is missing entirely in the car, even in the system settings there is no charging settings.

Maybe they forgot to add it in this specific car, hehe

not quite sure, but i will check some documentation at home, probably one of the first ones, since it was used as demo car for the dealership before i got it. (didn't want to wait 6 months until they made a new one and shipped it :) )

Does this wireless charging thing make sense? When I put my Iphone there to charge and also want to connect with Apple Carplay then I have to plug in the USB-cable which charges the phone anyway...connecting by bluetooth with Apple Carplay doesn‘t work in the I30N as far as I know, right?

No, wireless CarPlay isn’t a ‘thing’ yet so the Qi charge pad for an iPhone is a bit pointless.

For the Australian cars, you only get the Qi pad if you tick the Luxury Pack option (which includes a bunch of other things as well).

BMW are offering wireless Apple CarPlay but they charge you extra for the privilege. Some aftermarket audio manufacturers are starting to offer wireless CarPlay units too. I think it will be widespread within 3 years given the speed of technology.

If its not fitted then you can't even fit afterwards unless Hyundai are a helpful manufacturer. I had a nightmare trying to add cruise control to a Chevrolet. Dealer added software but Chevrolet wouldn't authorise car to recognise it. All hardware was same as Vauxhall / Opel Astra.
USA and other countries would do it but not Chevrolet Europe / UK? All manufacturers seem to have country specific differences for some reason.
