What car did you come from?

I've got an odd list for you – this all started in the USA:
• 1966 Dodge Charger
• 1968 Chevy Pickup 4x4 (model?)
• 1984 Chevy Cavalier
In Germany:
• 1979 Opel Record C
• 1990 Opel Vectra (new)
Back in the US:
• 1984 Oldsmobile Tornado
• 1991 Pontiac Lemans (Opel Kadett E)
• 1996 VW Jetta (Bora)(new - took back to Germany)
Back in Germany:
• 2004 VW Touran (new)
• 2008 Mercedes E200 Kombi (haven't talked myself into selling it yet)
• 2018 i30N

In only a year of driving I've owned:
2001 Ford Fiesta
2008 Peugeot 207
2017 Fiat 500s
2014 Mini Cooper D
And very soon (hopefully)...
2018 Hyundai i30N

I've had:

2005 - Fiesta SI 1.6 - M reg
2006 - Fiesta Flight 1.3 - J Reg (It had electric windows and boot opener but a choke and it cost me £300 haha)
2006 - Honda Civic Sport 1.6 - 53 Plate (I loved this car, ragged the nuts off it for nearly 7 years with Zero mechanical faults)
2013 - Polo GT Bluemotion - 13 Plate (My first brand new car, really enjoyed this car)
2016 - Golf GT Bluemotion - 65 Plate
2018 - i30N - 18 Plate :D

Given that here in Italy we have some really crazy ownership taxes, plus insurance, plus gas is very expensive, I always had mostly boring cars :

- old 198x Ford Taunus 1.4L (got my license with it), built like a tank, with a seriously underpowered engine, boring as hell, but still my first car, so... ;)
- for a really brief period of time, an old 197x Alfa Romeo Giulia 1.3L
- 1989 (or maybe 1987, can't remember) Fiat Croma 2.0L (fiat, what else to add, crap maker, crap cars)
- 1992 Alfa Romeo 33 4x4 1.5L (this one was quite fun, lovely engine, twin carbs, boxer, really responsive)
- 1998 Honda Civic 5dr liftback 1.4L (similar to the Rover 400, did its job, but the 1.6 VTEC would have been much better)
- 2009 Ford Focus 2.0L, LPG (not bad, cheap to run, thanks to lpg, have 265K+ km on it, and the engine is still running good)

Soon (really soon, if everything goes as it should, but I will know for sure by the end of the week), a brand new i30N Performance in Clean Slate

What I've owned in 23 years of driving...I don't change cars too often

1983 Mk 2 Ford Fiesta Ghia (first car, lost a battle with a Hilux)
1984 Vauxhall Nova 1.2 (interim car after Fiesta, this one fell apart)
1988 Vauxhall Nova 1.3 (started life as a 1.2 then got a bit of a make over)
1993 Vauxhall Nova GSi (my dream car back in the day)
2001 Ford Fiesta Zetec S (first new car a bought, key it for 9 years)
2008 Volvo C30 2.0D (great car and sold it to get my current C30 below)
2008 Volvo C30 D5 (owned this one now for nearly 8 years)

Now in the market for an i30N Performance :)

Escort mkIII 1,8 diesel
Renault 19 TXE 1.7
Niissan Primera 2.0
Mondeo 2.0 diesel
Volvo V40 1.6 diesel
Soon ... i30N
Nissan was good fun to drive but needed 12L/100 km, I expect to see these numbers again with the i30N :)

Just curious what car you last had before you got the N, or what you are going to trade in

I had an Audi A3, 2l TDI S Line, got the thing in 2008 and only just parted ways, it was my longest relationship!

Still got it while I wait, Skoda Octavia VRS TDI mapped to 210 bhp.

Had it nearly 6 years from new. Cannot wait for the new N to turn up.....

Cheers, my previous cars leave a lot to be desired.

Toyota Verso being the worst, good at the time for family transport but look at it!!!

Can’t remember the years but in this order:

04 reg (brand new) Vauxhall Cora 1.2 SXI (when I first past, I was paying more for insurance than the car finance!)

Then I did a direct swap for:

Land Rover Freelander 02 reg (can’t remember model)

Then I did another direct swap (because it was knackered)

Land Rover Discovery T reg with upgraded face lift

Then I sold that for:

02 reg Clio Sport

Traded that in for:

58 reg Audi A3 2l TDI S line (2k miles on)

Also I had a Land Rover Freelander 2 (08 reg) for about a year at same time. Sold the Freelander and kept the Audi.

10 years later I traded the Audi in for.... you guessed it....

i30N Performance :):)

2011 Fabia Vrs owned from new remapped to 215 bhp, trying to sell it at the moment.

Picking my N up on Saturday and can't wait for the drive home, slowly though because SWMBO is following me home .
