UK i30n Insurance Policy Price increases?

My insurance renewal with Quote Me Happy arrived today. Bearing in mind my wife's 69 plate Kia Picanto went from £103 to £159 with no changes with Flow, I opened up the email with gritted teeth.
Last year I paid £224.71 and this year......£224.33, a drop of 38p!!!!!!! Very pleasantly surprised. Went down the previous year also a few quid. Benefits of being 59 with 20 years plus no claims living in a quiet part of the country I suppose.

I reckon they made a mistake. Mine went up by about £100 and I'm even older and nothing else had changed. My motorbike insurance didn't change at all. Insurers are greedy buggers.

Well, another year on and my insurance has now gone up a further £180. My current provider still be the cheapest option after Go Compare price look up. I am 69 with no convictions, accidents or points garaged and its now £536.00 Up from £357.

Has anyone else seen a big insurance increase this year for thier i30n. I bought mine new in 2021, and was pleasently surprised how reasonable the insunce costs were. I am not a young "excitable" driver and have lots of NCP included but my renewal in Feb has shot up by nearly 30%.
I wonder if the insurance compnies have cottoned on to the power and speed of the i30n and are upping the policy prices accordingly.
Mines gone up on my i20n as well and I live somewhere that not many crashes happen and the only cars that get stolen are just the normal cars, range rovers, golf R’s ect. Mines gone up about 20% which is shit and everywhere else I look it’s gone up almost 200%. Think insurance has just rocketed up for everyone unfortunately

Auto Insurance rates are increasing everywhere due to, among other things, insurance lossses, cost to repair, multi-million dollar "injury" settlements, etc. In the USA my Auto rate increased 15% on our Civic Si. Homeowners insurance just jumped 60% because of insurance losses (not mine) and cost to rebuild in their market.

I am going to try an independant Insurance Broker recommended by a left user here last year. See what comes back. Ill update when I see their rates. But I dont think their cover will match my current price which includes everythimg.

Well that was a shock. Got what was called a "non competetive" price after they searched for a while of over £1500....

My renewal quote was 52% higher than last year's premium (Direct Line).

I shopped around on the Meerkats, and the cheapest on there was still a 25% increase, with Aviva.

I rang Direct Line with the details, and miraculously they were able to renew me at only £10 more than the Aviva quote.....

I've sadly, swapped car from my i30N now but have this particular thread on my watchlist, my quotes were a good £200 higher this year compared to last for the i30N with wheels declared as a mod, prices are just going crazy it seems

Well mine went from 2021 £570 2022 £870 2023 £1340, taking absolute P*ss as I have 17 yrs NCD and one fault which was my motorbike being nicked. If prices stay the same unfortunately The Kona N will be going this year as i'll just buy another car.

That's bonkers, my new car is insurance group 50, I've got nowhere near the no claims bonus you have but my insurance now is 250 cheaper than what you're paying, it really makes no sense anymore at all

Seems crazy the quotes some are being offered; I recently purchased a i30N and switched my policy (Howdens) ~42M, with full NCB's (aka no claims) and the underwritten policy went from £380->£450. (total value is more as I take out some other additional options). With pro-rata adjustments and arrangement fee it cost me £50 extra to change.

I was dreading the price I was going to be quoted having lurked and read some of the numbers above before committing to the sale - but I was pleasantly surprised (luckily).

Previous car was a 2016 Mustang GT; and the increase in premium is down to i30N's value currently being higher - according to the broker.

The only thing i can think is the area I live as i share a post code with a rough area down road and i know a few i30n's have been nicked in past year.

Hi All, I have just had this years (2025) reminder and again a massive increase with quote me Happy up from £535.81 to £655.04.
I wonder if this is because I am now 70? I have over 20 years NCD and no convictions. My partner has a declared no fault accident in 2021. Car parked on locked drive overnight. ( I always fit a stoplock as well)
So I tried compare the market and got a great deal from MOJA. They are the web only part of AXA, and the same policy was £459.41. On cancelling the QuoteMeHappy they offered me a reduction of £30.00. LOL I could have gone cheaper if I did not take out the windscreen option. So it does pay to shop around.

FYI, The company I tried was Chris Knott, and they sent me an email this year to try another quote. Shame was they never ever called back when I left my number.
22/01/25 - Got a call back after a week!

Recently had my new quote from QMH and after 2 years of small decreases it has now gone up. Last year paid £224 with £250 excess now quoted £264, very nearly 20% increase. So shopped around but could get nothing under £300 and those that were close wanted £450+ excess, so staying put again this year. Turned 60 this year, possible reason for increase?

It's not you, it's just the insurance companies being greedy. Ever since the new law was introduced preventing them from stinging existing customers at renewal and giving cheaper quotes to new applications the prices have increased dramatically.

Hi, I think they are hitting older drivers with increases. My previous car went up when I hit 60, and I think QMH put it up £100 this year when I am now 70.
