Turbo valve damage

Hi guys. My OEM turbo valve got damaged probably from the higher pressure of the DTE parallel.
Anyone else has experienced something similar out there?
Needless to say the part needs 22 days to arrive to the dealership, in Greece...
The turbo after 2,000rpm was not working correctly,
making blow off sounds like it was a sierra cosworth hahaha!

Do you mean the blow-off/recirculation valve? If so, is it aftermarket? I’ve had the DTUK, a 255 BHP stage 2 tune and now a 300 BHP stage 3 tune and not experienced any issue!

Thinking about it, if the part is coming from the dealer it won’t be aftermarket. Do you have an aftermarket intercooler - could there be some air leak?

Thanks for your reply!! Its not aftermarket, no :(
Also no other aftermarket parts i.e. intercoolers etc.
only exhaust, full system from the downpipe towards the back
and pipercross air filter.

I guess they checked on the pipes, couplers etc
cause at first i thought i have blew up some pipe somewhere :p..
but no. And to note here that at that particular day i havent pressed the car at all.

The following should be on a different thread, but im not 100pct happy with my DTE,
On the 3rd and 4th gear if i press the gas softly and not floor it, the car looks like it shuts the turbo power instantly,
then leaving it work again, then cutting it again repeatedly, until it reaches some higher RPMs.

Hmm… very strange. I had my DTUK (which I believe is just the U.K. distributed DTE) for about 18 months and never had any kind of issue with the way the car drove!

I suspect your turbo cutting off and the blow off valve failing are related and nothing to do with the tuning box.

Yea I guess for us is DTE for you guys DTUK.

And you know... i have it on dynamic (i think thats the medium power level out of the 3 i have). If i put it on sport, which is the most powerful, the cut off becomes more intense. I have contacted DTE, they remapped or refreshed and updated the version... But still remains. Im waiting for someone to unlock the software of Hyundai :p:D to programme it again.

I will also let you know on the delivery time of the valve so we have a view on the timelines! Thanks again!

As I understand it the 3 power levels of the tuning box are somewhat misleading as they are all the same thing but with minor changes made to the timing. So they should really just be labelled 1, 2, 3 or A, B, C.
Don‘t expect the ECU to be fully cracked any time soon. In fact, I seriously doubt it will ever be fully understood as there just aren’t enough potential customers to motivate companies to do the necessary R&D work.

Higher boost from a parallel box can definitely damage the stock turbo valve. You might want to look at a stronger aftermarket valve so it can handle the extra pressure. Until the new part arrives, try to drive gently and avoid heavy boost to protect the turbo.

Most (perhaps all) aftermarket valves use a spring and plunger design and these are notorious for sticking unless regularly lubricated. The stock design uses a diaphragm and this is a much more reliable solution.
I’ve run a tuning box and then a stage 2 map to 255 BHP - no issues at all with the stock BoV. Now stage 3 tuned with a hybrid turbo and putting out 300 BHP - still on the stock BoV.

Thank you Noe.. I will stick to the OEM for now, as its also under warranty.
Also i dont drive the car now, as it doesnt work properly after 2k rpm. Im waiting for the part. <3

I had a Racechip RS fitted for a couple of months last year, 2 or 3 times on my commute home i accelerated and it felt like a 1.0 car, looking at the turbo gauge there was no boost. I switched the car off then back on and it was fine?
I removed the box and it's been perfect since so must have been an issue with the Racechip

Well guys, its not the turbo valve. Mind you, it took them almost a month to deliver the spare part.
They replaced it, but nothing.. car keeps on doing the same thing. Not always though. Sometimes it works correctly.
Some other times, after driving for a while, it starts losing the turbo power again.
And you can hear a heavy SUTUTUTU when you take your foot off the gas pedal, like im driving an EVO.
Now i have the next appointment on the 21st april. I will keep you posted.
But to be honest with you im unhappy with the dealership. It seems that they did not pay attention to the problem.
The OBD showed them turbo valve problem, and they didnt even look at the rest of the turbo system.
Hoses, intercooler, turbo, intake... everything. Im persuaded that I probably have some small crack somewhere.
Anyways..

Dude, this is what dealers do. They expect stock cars and for the diag tool to tell them the issue.
They swap the most likely part and if there's still a problem they rinse and repeat.

They brute force the solution eventually, and if you're lucky you're only out a heap of time. Perhaps they say your mods mean no warranty and you have to pay for their bullshittery.

They are not the old-school mechanics you are expecting, that have wisdom of the ages to pinpoint an issue from the sound of it.

Thanks for your reply man!!! I know... unfortunately! :(

UPDATE... It was the DTE... 1/5 stars from me guys on the DTE.
Throughout the whole use of it I always had problems and had to reboot again and again.
Now I have removed everything and is all stock again.
I will look for an FK8 now. I have to find a good one, so it will take some time.
