Squeaking clutch pedal

Hi all,

Did anyone around here has/had an issue with the clutch pedal? If yes, what was the fix? It squeaks pretty loud but not all the time, it sounds like when your shoe sole is wet and you're pressing the pedal. Thanks!

On my old Subaru I had this issue sometimes - some WD40 in the hole where clutch pedal zylinder is solve it...
No mechanic answer here

Hi,

I still have this issue, the service is useless, the mechanic said that he doesn't hear a thing, sprayed some white grease and that was it. I tried on my own with some WD40, made it worse, now I can hear the springs grinding as WD cleaned the grease. I'll try to apply some grease again, at least make it the same as before applying WD..

WD40 isn’t a lubricant. It’s a water displacement compound. Spraying it on only accomplishes it’s intended purpose.

Once it drys to a yellow film in a few days, there is no lubricating qualities. It will actually cause galling of metal parts.

Use a good quality grease or silicone spray. WD40 actually makes an excellent silicone spray that turns to grease once it’s dry.

Hi,

I can't exactly pinpoint the source of the sound, I think it comes from one of the springs, sometimes I think it is the clutch switch, hopefully not. If you stick your head under the dashboard, you'll see that there are 2 springs, one closer to the firewall, one closer to the cabin and also the rubber sleeve of the clutch switch. I'll try to grease every spring and joint I see with white grease and a good old school grease, just to be sure and come back with the result.

So....after aplying a ton of white grease and normal grease, the noise stopped for 3-4 days. After that, the car sat for a week, now the squeaking started again..I'm out of ideas and patience. It's the third car with this issue, the first is my girlfriend's Ceed, the second my previous Ceed GT. I mean, wtf...and the service is/was useless everytime.

It will start again, mine does that sometimes too. I think it depends also on the temperature. Don't know what it is, other than annoying as hell. I still suspect the switch but cannot test with a new one..

for info, mine was squeaky due to the interior clutch pedal plastic bushes failing(cracked) replaced under warranty
