Just got a 5 N and want to get snow tires sorted before the flakes hit. I like the most sidewall possible for my snow tires.
Several on-line dealers are offering 255/50 on 19” rims that they say will work with the 5 N. Is there a need to check anything else with respect to clearing the front callipers with those large rotors? Has anyone measured the absolute minimum internal rim diameter?
The 255/50R19 would be 1.6% larger than OEM by my calculation. However, I usually like to size up my winter tires by 3-5% for maximum ground clearance in the snow. My question is this. Could I go for 245/55 on the 19x8.5” rim or would that be too narrow for the rim or too heavy for the slightly narrower tire.
I’ve been happy with Blizzaks and X-ice’s in the past without really seeing much difference so I was gravitating to the Blizzaks with their lower price, but Reddit 5 N users seem to be really praising the Vikingcontacts. Thoughts?
I plan to get TPMS inserted in the winter rims as well.
