Interior Rear Seats Weight and Potential Weight Reduction

Hi Guys,

Don't know if this has been posted ever but i thought i'd add the info to a forum,
All in the back seats backing sections (excluding the bench) weigh 16.7 kilos.

The big double seat section is 10.5 kilos, the single seat is 6.2 kilos. the headrests each weigh less than 100 grams.

considering the bench is just foam, i'm imagine it weighs no more than 5 kilos.

If you were thinking of weight reduction, a ~20 kilo loss of the entire back seats is pretty good. Similar reduction to taking the battery out, i couldn't tell you how it affects the weight distribution although i believe the car is already quite front heavy.

I'd suggest a rear seat removal and a lightweight lithium battery would go quite nicely together, shedding ~40 kilos off the car and maintaining the standard weight distribution. the battery itself is also VERY heavy from factory, weighing in at around 20-23 kilos. The standard wheels are around 11.4 kilos i believe. you could quite easily get the car to an ~1120 kilo curb weight.

Anyone got anything else to add?

The bonnet (hood) is very heavy and when carbon fibre ones become available (I know of two that are available but shipping is more than the cost of the thing itself) that will be a large weight saving.

V1 is a bar that attaches to the existing seat backing brackets, V2 is two bars with dedicated supports screwed to existing holes
