Hi there. I have had my brand new i20n for two weeks now, and I can see there is wear already on the front driver's seat. Is this a common occurrence? Thanks in advance

What kind of wear are you talking about - if it’s a few creases in the leather then yes, it’s normal.

Thanks for that. If it gets worse, do you know if it's covered by Hyundai's warranty? I've also got condensation appearing in the rear light cluster when I wash the car.

That's normal and it will clear up. Most modern headlights allow water to enter (and to drain).

The only issue is moss can grow over time due to the moisture. If it gets to be an issue then warranty will replace the entire headlight unit

Hi Korton,

The "leatherette" (i.e. vinyl) on the surrounds of the seat scratch, wear, and crease easily, as many others have noted.

Shortly after the initial excitement of a new car subsided, I realised that all of the vinyl (soft and hard) in and on my new i20N was actually very dry. Carefully moisturising it with a high quality product (multiple times in my case) helped make the soft vinyl more pliable, and aside from making it look and feel better should also help slow down the wear and creasing, and improve its longevity.

A soft seat cover can also help, as well as possibly making more of an effort to lift yourself over the side bolster when getting in and out so as not to squash the outer bottom side bolster as much.

Hyundai do their own leather/pleather care. Its a liquid that you just apply and dry off with a microfibre. I have been using this for over a year every few months, leather is as good as new. I got it direct from the Hyundai accessories site in Germany, but looking at the bottle it is just Autosol leather care.

This is the product you are talking about?

You can use every product. All better than nothing.

I used aerospace protectant twice in one year and my leather and whole interior looks much better than new. Deep black without being glossy instead of dead grey

Then help yourself and treat it with some stuff.
At the end it must be for vinyl, plastic.
You could maybe use leather things but as far as is not leather I would prefer vinyl stuff.

You can use vinyl stuff for the whole interior. That makes it easier. Apply with soft sponge or pen and then wipe it dry with cotton or soft microfiber

A soft seat cover can also help, and you could explore can am ryker accessories for additional seat protection, as well as making more of an effort to lift yourself over the side bolster when getting in and out so as not to squash the outer bottom side bolster as much.
That doesn’t sound right for a brand-new i20 N after just two weeks. Some creasing can happen with regular use, especially on the driver’s seat bolsters, but noticeable wear this early is worth getting checked. I’d take photos and contact the dealership while the car is still new, so they can inspect it and advise whether it’s covered under warranty. Is the wear on the side bolster where you get in and out, or on the actual seat surface? That could help determine whether it’s normal creasing or a potential material defect.
