The u turn begins with nobody wanting full electric vehicles, might be alright this one,as long as it doesn’t resemble the new shape non N model.IMG_4480.jpeg

wonder where Autocar got that pic, AI?
i thought the new i20 had a horrid light bar like the new kona.
i hate light bars, hence my hate for tesla's got even deeper in the last year.

They could have at least post processed the colour on this to match PB properly.
At this stage, i'd wager every single pic of new shape i20N hybrid are all AI.
The driver window arent always consistent with the new shape, mirrors, sideskirts, brakes/wheels. Little things that show they are letting AI mash a mix of existing N with the new i20 in the hopes that it'll attract more attention than the quite average looking i20 base.

The new i20 release pics show ugly grey plastic wheel arches, so i'm hoping that means N will get a chonky flare job like how the yaris GR has some meat on its bones.

Claims of it having "up to 224kw" will be all hype. They say the new gearbox can handle that much, not that the car will have that much. They say it will have an augmented 1.6L turbo and they wont crank the ICE power that much and i'd only expect a modest bump from the hybrid motor (most hybrid motors add less than 30kw).

"i30 N-killing outputs are quite possible" ... That wont happen, but it'll cost i30N money.
I expect more like 170kw. Whatever keeps it under the 130kw/tonne threshold for Australia. Perhaps with a temporary e-boost if that doesnt change the ratio for that Aus-Regs calculation. Once the hybrid gear adds a bit of weight, they'll focus on how it has 20+ kw more than the last i20N and glaze over that fact that the extra weight means its still just under 130kw/t.

Guess we’re lucky it’s even a thing at this stage even if it does look like a Dacia duster, hopefully other’s manufacturers may followed suit, love to see another hot ford or Renault.
4x4 hybrid fiesta RS yes please 💭

How the i20n hybrid sells may affect whether others try a small sporty hybrid, but the development turnaround is a year or two.
I mean i dont hate it. I'd love a small performance hybrid and can forgive it having an aesthetic that has to grow on you so long as its a hoot to drive, but i already have a petrol i20n, not enought space in the driveway or savings and only one arse.

Yeah it’s all hypothetical really just as a hot hatch fan of old,I definitely won’t be getting another car as I still have my ST and don’t even live in the uk anymore and have no intention of returning.
I’ve got my litter scooter and that’s just fine ☀️🏝️
